uh oh. Well that’s a shocker

Even if healthy, I don't think Jackson would have contributed much this season. Maybe a few minutes here and there, and maybe some time during the grueling BWT (hopefully all 3 games). But really, any down time he's experiencing now effects his growth for next year. With Michael graduating, we'll need someone in that defensive wing position (the Michael, L. White, A. Johnson, role). Mooney seems like he'll slot into the backup to Schneider, leaving Jackson, Printup, or freshman red-shirt Nelson (unless someone else is brought in). But plenty of time to obsess about that later, though.

    Go Ags!

still didn’t see Jackson on the bench. Seems like either a big time sickness or injury.

Ags favored by 7.5. I'll take a win by any margin! Glad this is on ESPN3. as the streaming should be good.

Gotta do what you can to get people to show up, I guess. So here's a Davis spin on this. I saw a new 15 person party bike is starting next month (copied and pasted from the enterprise below). If we sell out vs (pick a team), can we get Coach Les and the team to ride the party bike through town/campus?

Davis Pedals, a 15-person bike party bus, has its wheels and is prepping to roll as soon as next month. The bus still needs a new logo and seatbelts.

Downtown Davis dentist James Meinert (the one with a double-decker bus on his logo) owns Davis Pedals. The bus will operate from a garage adjacent to the D Street Steakhouse, at 113 D St. Meinert plans pub crawls, progressive dinners and wine-tasting tours, he said. “We will also try some old Davis history tours and kids’ birthday parties, along with spin class events.”

The human-powered bike travels about 5 to 7 mph, Meinert said this fall. “Our plan is to provide a fun experience throughout downtown,” extending from B to L streets, and Second to Fourth streets. “We will loop around town, in order to have about 10-15 minutes of bike time between stops.”

There is a picture it at https://www.facebook.com/DavisPedals/

Les has been using Hennings and Shorts together recently. A direct result of Hennings play, and maybe partially due to the absence of Jackson.

Looks like it’ll be important to finish 1 or 2 in the regular season so we get one of the bottom feeders in the first round of the BWT. As of right now, the third place finisher would play UCI, which would be a challenging first round game.

I think John’s whole game is getting better, including his perimeter shot. Per his post game interview he was only cleared to play a week before the season began. It seems he is getting more confident with his knee. Hopefully, come bwt time he’s playing st his peak.

You're absolutely right. It's good family entertainment.

I saw the twitter one on the UCDMB twitter feed. The other two have to do with work (local area teachers for one and staff for the other). I know those aren't available for everyone, although you don't have to have proof of your affiliation, you just need to find the correct promo code. Maybe they should reduce prices for mid-week games that are lower draws (dynamic pricing).

I've always thought that ticket prices were a barrier to the average family. I used to bring the kids, so for 3 of us, GA tickets (with a break for the kids depending on the age), parking, and maybe a snack or two, you're talking at least $30 for the night. Of course, students are free, so that's not an excuse for them. And I do think, if you look for it, you can find some discounts. I got in last night for $4.30 (via a discount I saw on Twitter), $8 for this saturday's doubleheader, and free for a game coming up on the next home-stand (and free parking on the weekends if you don't mind walking a bit). But you really have to watch for the discounts, you can't just show up at game time.

Another ugly win. The 18-0 run that spanned halftime was obviously the key. Some sloppy play and questionable calls down the stretch made it a little closer than it could have been. Shorts made his FTs late that sealed the victory.

Time to beat up on Poly

You all aren’t missing much. A very uninspired effort by the Ags so far. Chima earned a lot of bench time by letting his man drive by him twice in a row. Goode John hennings shorts and printup finished the half. I doubt that lineup has ever seen the court.
  • UC Davis Dream Team Debate
Right now, we have way too many turnovers, inconsistent offense, and a defense that can be good but only if they play with max effort. But fortunately, the BWT is over a month away, and we play in a conference that doesn't have a dominant team.

In my mind, the key is if we learn how to perform in close games. Last year we were two clutch plays/situations away from going home early (Chima's put back in the semi's, and Lemar's unstoppable effort down the stretch against UCI). Heck, throw in a typically close game against Poly in the first round, and last years team could easily have been very disappointed. I'm guessing this years team will be similar...play close games and it'll come down to if we can get key stops on defense and consistent offense.

We've been craving for another player to step up (after Chima, Siler and Shorts). I really think that if John can continue to get healthy, and stay out of foul trouble, he can provide that 4th option. His outside shots seems to be coming around, but more importantly, he's added a defensive presence that we didn't have earlier in the year. If he can continue that progression, and if Mooney can be a little more consistent with his 3's, I think we do have a very good chance of running the table in Anaheim.

    Go Ags.

The ags can not handle the press. They’ve made just about every turnover imaginable
