that was one of the best played and entertaining games I can remember. The defense was fierce, yet the offensive talent was able to overcome. Such a cleanly played game. Heartbreaking for UCLA.

what frustrates me is that they reviewed for about 5 minutes to make the call. There weren’t THAT many TV angles, so how many times did they look at the ‘definitive’ end zone shot before that swayed the decision

I’m booked San Diego and Poly. Thought about Tulsa BUT it’s hard to get there. Also talked to people in department who said Tulsa wasn’t a great place when they went for NCAA basketball.

Run game and defense were pluses. Coombs,I think, did a nice job as DC. Kept us in games when the offense struggled and did a good job of making adjustments during the game. Little Hawk is still work in progress. Not having Gilliam limited the pass game, in my opinion.

QB picture is still murky. I like Hunter especially when they roll him out. Tompkins has a lot of skills, but we’ve not seen him for a full game leading the pass game. Seems like we have a wealth of good receivers, with speed and quickness, but we couldn’t exploit that (besides the fly)

I’m excited about the present and future. We’re bringing in top notch players and the more we have, the more competitive the environment and the better we get.

no; get healthy for the fall.

I think you had to buy with credit card ( or if you had a ticket office account) so only CA zip codes allowed.

He played a bit v CSUN and LBSU in the first half rotation. Looked okay, a little on the weak side physically. Good luck to him. That’s a big challenge to come over here, especially during global pandemic.

Comparing results, it’s a pretty close matchups. Both of us slaughtered Poly, both have last minute wins over ISU. We beat Idaho soundly, they lost. They beat NAU soundly, we lost a close one to Weber.

Idaho, by the way, has the one loss to us so they are lurking at the top. I wasn’t impressed with them at all; granted they had COVID issues but we moved the ball very well once we got settled and I think their COVID was primarily on the OL. They close with ISU, NAU and EWU. I’m expecting a 1-2 finish at best

Sold out. I suspect that will be around 2000? No berm, so depends how they spread folks out

he was mobile but he didn’t get a chance to use it. Second guy looked like Pluto feed was on slow motion.

spot on assessment. Spring would be a good time for him to focus on passing.

Back to the game at hand..... I expect a heavy dose of the run game and a lot of zone to try to keep Barrierre in check (as much as one can). Timely blitzes to get him to rush. I’d feel better about this game if 1)Gilliam were playing. Not just as a runner, but also for his contributions in the pass game. Good hands and a knack for getting open. Maybe more importantly, he’s a real good pass protector- maybe part of the reason the pass game was so bland last game (trusting 2 young backs to pick up pressure); and 2) we haven’t faced a mobile QB YET. ISU guy moved okay, Idaho and Poly guy a statue. Weber QB made some plays but not like this guy does.

Hopefully it’s our time to play our best game and beat these guys

I’m waiting Dixon to break free. He had some highlights that showed great breakaway speed. He looks a little tentative now but hopefully that will change with more action

thanks for the info. Back before the spring started, Hawk implied that they weren’t expecting many seniors to return in 2021.

Yes, defer the 12 units to fall and graduate at the end of fall quarter. I don’t know all the academic progress rules, but you have to make progress to a degree and take a minimum number of units. These ‘extra’ two quarters might make it impossible to do both and be academically eligible to play next fall, despite the extra athletic year. Probably need to talk to someone in compliance to make sense. That’s the only reason I can understand the poly kids deferring, which made them ineligible for spring

I wouldn’t be surprised if this is our last game, win or lose. We might have some seniors who are making the same decision since spring quarter starts this week. Unless they have a job lined up, a 6 month delay in graduation date would be no big deal
  • Week 5: #9 Eastern Washington @ #11 UC Davis
it doesn’t but there any academic requirements about making minimum progress and units toward major. Announcement says deferring enrollment. If guys were planning on graduating spring, they could only play as graduate students in fall.... I don’t think they can take classes in spring that fill a unit minimum but don’t count toward major. At least that’s how I heard it

All teams have a home/home to minimize travel. We have poly so both have a bus trip game

I didn’t know you could defer a quarter and retain eligibility. Maybe it’s a pandemic thing

his scrambling also wears down a defense, especially the big linemen having to chase him. It will help to be at home so we can suit up a few more players. Forecast looks like the weather will be similar to last week, which led to some cramps (we practice early morning so a sunny 75 degree day was probably a little jolt to the system)
