  • Hey Guys!
that 2010 conference/tournament was in the good old days when conference champs got a bye in the tournament. i really prefer that approach, since it puts some value on the conference performance. there is the consolation prize of a guaranteed NIT spot for the conference champ, but i would like to see them get a bye.
  • Hey Guys!
touché. I think my point was we’re content with a 3-championship disaster of a decade, but not so content with this season. Probably should have left that barking dog to itself
  • Bruce Edwards Says Ags Will Go FBS in 5-10 Years
Just to follow up on my (beating a dead horse point) the PAC-12 is 4th in TV revenue of the big 5 conference (SEC makes over $50M, PAC12 about $38M). I’m guessing the bowl payouts are much lower also. So, how’s does less money divided by more teams help? Don’t think adding the Sac area will boast revenues
  • Bruce Edwards Says Ags Will Go FBS in 5-10 Years
I’ll just repeat myself AGAIN : moving up requires a conference that wants us. PAC 12 won’t go to 14 (unless it meant Texas and Oklahoma), and I can’t see a reason MWC needs us and another. Only option would be if a MWC school drops

    US : 3 championships (2 regular, 1 tourney)
    THEM : 2 championships (1 and 1)
  • Hey Guys!
good point. this dog was barking at me this morning and I stopped and yelled ‘three championships in four years’ and the little b*stard just barked louder!
  • Looking Forward to 2019
i thought 'scheduled' meant the original schedule. that's why '4 games' was the magic number for the new redshirt rule (1/4 of 11 or 12). i don't think teams in the post-season get to take advantage of the extra game(s) but who knows.

i fear that, with the backlash from the ASUCD Ethnic committee's statement, that it will be more than an event to honor her memory.

Agree on the jinx and on les’ coaching. Sequence before the end of first half was great example. Beach calls timeout with 10 seconds left, we come out in a zone and get a turnover. Timeout with about 2 seconds left, set up the TJ special for a clean look (miss). That would have been a big swing.

Montezuma’s taco revenge? No worries about that next Saturday, since we’ll be at the game

At least we’ll have another FCS home game option! Who will want to play them at their place

I missed most of the second half but thought the officiating in the first half was VERY picky, both ways.

Mooney’s transformation from dear in the headlights early in his career to the player he is now, is incredible. I liked Fuller’s contributions in the first half. Silar still makes turnover that just make you shake your head. He shot well in the first half, how about the second.

Twice this season on early Saturday games I took my wife to dinner around halftime. Both times we went Mexican. First time was Arizona game, second time was last night. My apologies

Thanks; just scrolled through the play by play. Yikes

Damned walked away to get ready for dinner and we’re down 36-35? What happened?

Very impressive first half. Joe Mooney has really turned into a solid player. Very impressive growth from when I first saw him play. Lack of scoreboard on ESPN3 is annoying. Have to flip my phone so I can see the stats and see the current score. This would be a HUGE early season win

i kind of like his line vs. Indiana:

    Minutes 34
    FG 5-10
    3PT 4-9
    Pts 14

11 point underdogs tonight. that's a pretty big spread, but warranted based on preseason.
  • MBB: The Real Season
'incredible' might be a stretch, but 3 Big West Titles (two regular season, one tournament) is, at the very least, elevates you a bit above the Stewart level. guiding last year's team to a 6-2 finish and a conference championshiyp after Moneke's departure was pretty remarkable in my opinion. toss out that first season, and he's 54% and 57% in BWC. Not incredible numbers, but pretty solid especially with the 3 championships thrown in.
  • MBB: The Real Season
out of curiousity (slow day at work) i went back to see where we got our scoring last year. i just looked at the last 3 games on the regular season, all wins. leading scorers were:

    Riverside (64-62) : Shorts 16, John 13, Onyebalu 11, Schneider 10, Mooney 8
    Hawaii (70-59) : Shorts 21, Schneider 16, John 11, Mooney 14
    Irvine (90-83 3OT) : Shorts 21, John 20, Goode 16, Schneider 16, Mooney 8

I forgot Mooney played such a big role down the stretch. We've shown, when healthy, that John and Mooney can contribute 20+ a game, to go with Shorts/Schneider's 30+. Gonzalez, Fuller, Squre, Nuefield seem able to get 20+ (the Onyebalu/Hennings points). The key is shooting. last year we finished .465/.372/.716 (FG, 3's, FT); this year, we're at .424/.296/.689. That's a BIG dropoff, especially in 3-pointers. we did lose Onyebalu's 45.1% and Hennings 42.7 from the arc; but the returners are down. Silar 32% -> 27%, John 38.5 -> 21%, Mooney 38% -> 30%, Printup 35%-> 20%. Shorts has been consistent at 35%. Fuller (44%) and Squire (45%) have been the bright points.

I think shooting is contagious; hopefully we catch a hot streak soon and start the BW off on the right note.
  • MBB 1/5: Holy Names (4-9) @ UCD (3-10)
good eye, ML. i like that change....softens the industrial (prison?) look that we had before
  • MBB: The Real Season
John was really good vs Indiana, and we were really good on offense. that's been his only contribution this year. He really got better last season, and if 'that guy' comes back for the Big West, it will open up the offense for others.
