UC Davis health is putting in 20M, campus kicking in a sizable amount (academic tie-in of a state of the arts sports medicine facility), the rest donors and other sponsors. Huge deal

And there is the ‘logical’ sponsor for Phase 2!
  • Week 12: CAUSEWAY
The trajectory of the Air Quality the last two days (since yesterday afternoon) is making me less and less optimistic about this being played. I think the liklihood of a seed WITH a victory is slim (i just didn't see EWU, Weber and us all getting seeds, especially us as an 'upstart'). Without, less than slim.

our fan base on the west side boxes falls primarily (me and AgAlum excluded) in that 'unhealthy for sensitive groups' category. probably looking at the least attended Causeway since before they started calling it the 'Causeway'.

On radio show they said Thomson is back this week
  • Week 12: CAUSEWAY
Their game notes mentioned one qb hurt his shoulder, maybe it was clapper
  • Week 12: CAUSEWAY
maybe holding him back to redshirt. Had he played 4 games?
  • Week 12: CAUSEWAY
According to the folks on the Sac boards, Thomson is out and shooting for a medical redshirt (that would allow him to come back for a 6th year). they are down to a true freshman starting. according to their game notes:

'The class could be larger if it were not for the rash of injuries that has inflicted the team this year. Quarterback Kevin Thomson, linebacker Marcus Bruce, offensive lineman Wyatt Ming, kicker Devon Medeiros and defensive end George Obinna are all listed as seniors but will have the option to return next year.'

i don't read that as a positive he won't play (he's played in 6 games so far) and the depth chart shows:

    Quarterback
    5 Kevin Thomson (6-2, 205, Sr.) or
    10 Hamish McClure (6-0, 190, Fr.)
    19 Tristen Meyer (6-0, 190, Fr)

    so, we'll see.

I have two tickets available for Saturday; my seat mate won't be able to make it. Seems to have gotten stuck in Oregon (work) on his way back down from EWU. Send me a message if you are interested. You get to sit next to the infamous Agalum!
  • Week 12: CAUSEWAY
they lost to Montana 41-34 in Montanta, tied 31-31 after 3. That was with Thomson passing for 259 and a TD. They had 27 vs Poly with Thomson throwing for 320 and 2 TD. He got hurt vs. SUU the next game and they haven't been able to score since. If he resurfaces at full strength, we will have our hands full; if not, i can't see them scoring on us (one TD vs Weber was a fumble return; they had 190 yards).
  • Week 12: CAUSEWAY
Let’s assume the game is on and focus on football. Hopefully the same as our team. This isn’t a gimme. They just played Weber tough. If Thomson plays, they could be able to score
  • Week 11: UC Davis @ Eastern Washington
Unless some teams ahead of us drop and we get a seed, I would bet it is us vs. U-San Diego at our place. USD has played Poly and NAU the past two years.

    and won both.
  • MBB 11/12: Aggies (0-2) at Arkansas (0-1)
I kind of think that if Silar hits his first shot in a game, that will release the pressure he's putting on himself. if he starts to go off, i think the rest will follow. again, personnel-wise, this is essentially the same starters as the end of the season. Stefan and Neufield are both solid additions. Michael O's defense was huge for us last year, so we have to find a replacement, but offensively we should be better than we were.
  • Week 12: CAUSEWAY
the air quality up in the mountains was good this weekend -> Bret Harte high in Angels Camp is open!

I really can't imagine this being moved; i can see it being cancelled. if you are going to commit that level of effort/money to move the game, you have to find a location that will have MUCH better air quality than Davis on Saturday. I don't know where that location is, other than Reno (unless the wind somehow changes direction). playing early in the morning, or later at night would help.
  • Week 12: CAUSEWAY
I hope the players are staying focused on the game. This is a very dangerous game. Rested rival, coming off a huge loss and now all this uncertainty.
  • Week 12: CAUSEWAY
Be interesting to see what happens with the (other) Big Game
  • Week 12: CAUSEWAY
I believe NCAA rules recommend cancellation at levels over 200

probably felt a lot higher breathing in that 30 degree air!
  • Week 11: UC Davis @ Eastern Washington
I was watching some of the highlights and you could see us laboring. There was one where Doss made a great catch off his own tip, and we came up hugging and puffing like he had run a marathon. I imagine it’s like trying to adjust to altitude
  • FCS Bracketology
do you think they would seed Colgate? That’s a pretty weak resume unless they pull off a big upset over Army
  • FCS Bracketology
1st round is 11/24. i'm hoping that CK is right in that we'd get a seed (bye) if we take care of business Saturday, and then would open at home on 12/1.
