  • MBB: 2024 Big West Conference Tournament
Tough loss! Overall very good season. I watched at Woodstocks it was packed and people were cheering loudly.
  • MBB: CSUN (12-3, 3-0) @ the Aggies (8-7, 3-1) 6 pm Thursday 1/11
What happened to Manu? He was in the rotation but now barely plays. I liked his defense and passing.

Great win! What is it going to take to get some more people at the games?
  • Evaluating the athletic department
Is there even a facilities plan? Is the baseball team trying to fundraise for lights? I would go to a lot more games if they had lights. Seems like a lot of the facilities are tired and could use a refresh. The lack of locker rooms must hurt recruiting. Now that the new athletics building is done, hopefully the other sports facilities will get some attention

Actually Sam's dad Rex played for Pepperdine during the Doug Christie era! Sam's uncle (also named Sam Manu), was a walkon at Cal Poly and later coached at Aragon. His dad and uncle both were stars at Aragon in the 80's. Sam's dad Rex ended up playing professionally in Asia after Pepperdine and ended up staying in Taiwan for a number of years after his playing career wrapped up. That's why Sam (the recruit) was born in Taiwan and raised there. He came to the states in high school and played 2-3 years at Aragon HS before moving on to SF City College and then College of San Mateo. I expect he will have great fundamentals and skills because he probably had a ball in his hand at a very early age!

↪Oldbanduhalum Comes from a basketball family. His father and siblings coach and play at Aragon High School, Dad walked on at Cal Poly. He may be 24 years old. Point guard listed as his #1 position.

JC transfer Sam Manu from College of San Mateo has committed to the Aggies.
  • UC Davis Baseball Team and Coaching Staff Suspended
Clearly its something major, shutting down a program for months just doesn't happen in D1 sports. Very bad look for the Aggies. Hopefully its not as bad as it appears, but if it was more isolated we can assume they would have just booted the people directly involved.
  • MBB Signs 3 New Players
Love the athleticism of Harris. Much needed if the Aggies want to compete with the top teams
  • Foreign Tennis Player Issues
This has been a trend in tennis as well as a number of other sports (water polo, etc). Even college basketball has a pretty large number of foreign born players. I’m not sure how to change this, other than perhaps the NCAA putting a cap on the #’s per team. If a conference tries to limit the foreign athletes, they will be at a disadvantage so the only way to address it is if the NCAA got involved. I don’t expect to see this change anytime soon
  • ESPNU returns to campus on 2/28
Anyone have a guess on attendance? Hopefully it’s a big crowd!
  • MBB 2/13 7 pm: CSUN (10-14 & 4-4) @ UCD (8-14 & 4-4)
Good win last night. Decent crowd. It looked like a lot of the students stayed for at least the first half. Nice to see Hawkins and the football players get honored at halftime.
  • MBB 1/17: UCSB (13-3, 2-0) @ UCD (4-12, 0-2)
Tough season, after the past couple of years it felt like the Aggies were strongly established as one of the top programs in the conference. Now we’ve fallen to the bottom and the differential in athleticism is really showing against teams like UCSB. Les has clearly not recruited at the same level as Pasternak, he’s going to need to step it up. This season is really going to set us back. It’s one thing to have an off season and finish a few spots down in the standings, but getting pushed down to the bottom kind of derails the progress that had been made. Hopefully the team finishes strong and turns the season around, but they are running out of time
  • Bruce Edwards Says Ags Will Go FBS in 5-10 Years
One good year in FCS...let’s just see how it goes. I appreciate that a major donor feels like we could go FBS, but let’s just focus on continuing to build the program and trying to win a championship. Once that has happened consistently, then maybe it’s time to consider some other options. Don’t want to end up like UConn, their athletic Dept brought in $40 million in 2018, but costs were $80 million!! Big losses due to football. Now is the time to build the donor base and fan base with a winning FCS program.
  • Beach Volleyball Facility
Looks like they changed the layout of the courts
  • UOP drops field hockey
Hopefully the funding is still in place, they’re going to have to do even more traveling to find opponents
  • Sears OUT at Sac State
It would be a total shocker if Troy Taylor took the job. I guess the only reason would be if he wants to move back to the area.
  • FCS Playoffs Quarterfinals: UC Davis @ Eastern Washington v2.0
We should have a great recruiting year...successful season, upward trend, relatively high profile coach for FCS, and new facility improvements!!

Just need the fans to turn out more to improve the game day atmosphere. The playoff game was great, but we need to make that more common.

With a supportive chancellor and dynamic AD, we should be able to dominate our conference in recruiting and get some guys who lower FBS schools are recruiting. The future looks bright
  • FCS Playoffs Quarterfinals: UC Davis @ Eastern Washington v2.0
Great fight for the Aggies, the offense had a chance to put them away in the second half but they did it do it. Hopefully we learned a lot and will come back strong next year
