  • Week 5: UC Davis @ Montana State
Speckman's departure likely removed our most experienced coach on offense regarding Xs and Os.

Interesting development in Boise with Plough's departure and veteran OC Koetter turning up the offense in game one. Their starting QB also left, they played 2 QBs to mix things up, and a 6'6" mobile freshman QB exploded. Boise went from averaging 19 PPG vs FBS schools to 35 points in one half.

Koetter [OC], Green lead Boise State to season-saving win over SDSU

"It was Koetter’s brilliance, his masterclass that saved Boise State’s season on Friday night as the Broncos scored 35-unanswered points in the second half en route to a 35-13 win over San Diego State (2-3, 0-1 Mountain West).

"It’s hard to believe Koetter took the reins of this offense just six days ago, back when head coach Andy Avalos fired offensive coordinator Tim Plough after four weeks of watching an offense that was downright offensive."

"Then another loss a few days later when quarterback Hank Bachmeier hit the transfer portal, adding to the chaos around a program that has been the model of consistency since Koetter left in 2000.

"On Friday, though, Koetter took the keys to the beat-up Honda Civic Plough left him and drove that thing like Mario Andretti, maneuvering it in ways its previous driver never did.

"It just took two quarters for the engine to get greased up...."

"And Koetter's offense was a different offense. There were more read options, more times when the quarterback had to read just one defensive end and make a play from there. It was so simple. So easy. So darn effective."

Fake punt, great call and execution.

  • Week 5: UC Davis @ Montana State
The veteran Speckman departed, that didn't help matters. Thank goodness for UG, and why is Babbs buried in no man's land when we don't have playmakers at WR. He doesn't seem hurt. If we were 2-3 the mood would be much different.
  • Week 5: UC Davis @ Montana State
I believe Combs has done a commendable job, and the results would be even better if our offense sustained drives and scored more TDs. This was the first time the D had a bad day.

I missed Q2-Q4. It looks like we battled, but 1-4 still hurts. Opening the game w a penalty no good, but it looks like we got a midrange passing game going. No spy on their QB? We were good with JM, dangerous w JM and Keelan Doss. Amazing what one impact player can do. Rex Connors another big game (10 tackles).

I'm not sure what the strategy is saying 'this is the best team ever'. Three tough BS games to open the season. We're not scoring enough points. No receptions for studs Thorpe or Babbs. Dixon only threw 2 passes vs San Diego. The Cats were reportedly susceptible to the pass.
  • Week 5: Big Sky Schedule and Scores
    Portland State 35 - 27 NAU Final

    Update

Sac State 21 SLO 0 - Q2 2:42. Doesn't look like any big TOs, just Sac being efficient and scoring.

    Dunniway 8 of 10.
    O'Hara 3 of 4.

Idaho up 7-6 over No Colorado. Q 9:04.

Hawk is great, but we have to learn how to win. We could easily be 2-2, and we can be 1-4. Let's compete for a Big Sky championship!
  • Week 4: Weber State @ UC Davis
That should be a boost to all the programs and free up space elsewhere.
  • Edward's Family Athletics Center
    "Wow" factor for recruits?
  • Week 4: Weber State @ UC Davis
What teams have offices there? FB, MBB and ???
  • Tim Plough
My impression is that helped our end of the first half drive.
  • Edward's Family Athletics Center
    Expansive, lots of natural light.

    Your impressions?
  • Nathaniel Hackett rough start in Denver
Broncos win ugly 11-10, now 2-1. Russell Wilson leads a successful drive w under 4 minutes left. Aggie alum and DC Ejiro Evero's defense played well.

Broncos hired a Time Clock Assistant to help Hackett clean up clock management decisions.
  • Week 4: Weber State @ UC Davis
Some thought the drive to end the first half wasted some valuable time.
  • Nathaniel Hackett rough start in Denver
    Go Broncos! Sunday Night Football.

    Defensive battle - 7-5, Q3.
  • Week 4: Weber State @ UC Davis
We can still challenge for the Big West title!

What surprised me last year was how predictable our offense was, and that Hawk didn't instruct his offensive staff to mix things up. You can establish a run game without mimicking Ron Gould. That slowed the development of CH.

One more tough game, and then a well-timed Bye.
  • Week 4: Big Sky Schedule and Scores
Great move by Sac to supplement his salary. Transparent California is a few years behind in reporting, so he is likely well over 400k with no big time pressure, has his crew locked in, and Sac real estate a fraction of the Bay Area.
