  • Week 3: Dixie State at UC Davis
I hope for an injury free game for both sides, a convincing victory, and plenty of PT for QB #2 and maybe #3.

Is there any benefit at years end if we're ranked #5 instead of #8? Home field advantage?
  • Aggie Volleyball…
Sweet! Have we beaten them before?

I'm having flashbacks to 2019 when we played Berkeley tough, played North Dakota tough (#1 / #1), came home to play Montana (#18?) with Jake Maier at QB... and we came out flat at game time. They dropped almost 40 points on us in 3 quarters and locked up our run game. Ugh.

Great for the team and staff, but I hope we don't get overconfident.

I have posted articles from the Wall Street Journal and Forbes in the OT section outlining our new "diversity screening", where applicants are often rejected before academic and teaching merits are ever considered.

My input was relevant to the extended hiring process.

You can save the name calling for others. I brought receipts.

Receipts posted in the OT section.

WSJ Opinion: The University’s New Loyalty Oath
Required ‘diversity and inclusion’ statements amount to a political litmus test for hiring.

By Abigail Thompson (chair of the UC Davis math department)
    Dec. 19, 2019

"...Earlier this year, I was invited to submit an essay to the Notices of the American Mathematical Society, the most widely read journal in mathematics. I decided to express my view that these required statements have become political litmus tests, and that this should worry us all. My submission provoked an intense controversy—confirming that this has become a dangerously politicized issue...."

"...Many emails contained a disturbing theme, typified by this line from one of them: “Some day I, too, hope to speak out on this issue, but it is simply too dangerous at present.” This is a frightening sentiment to hear in academia. If expressing a widespread but controversial view is seen as taking a tremendous personal risk, the university system isn’t healthy. Ideas cannot thrive and mistakes cannot be corrected if people are afraid to speak out...."

"Mandatory diversity statements can too easily become a test of political ideology and conformity. “No political test shall ever be considered in the appointment and promotion of any faculty member or employee.” This fundamental principle, forged in one of the most difficult periods the UC system has ever endured, must not be abandoned. Two transfers had a big impact to on Saturday.

Graduate student Jaycee Smalley had 6 tackles to lead the team. The 232# LB came via UCLA.

Tysean White, a 6'2" 235# LB / Jr, had 2 tackles. He's a transfer from Navy. 12.5 sacks as a junior in HS, San Diego native.

If this game goes as planned, I hope to see:

    - an established run game
    - more time under center for QBs #2 & #3, not just late 4th Quarter.

    Go Ags.
  • The importance of non-athlete student participation in the athletics prgram
In past decades, Santa Cruz and Riverside were the least desirable campuses and had minimal sports programs. DIII? The most common non academic references I heard about their school was the beach, no grades, and stoner culture.

More traditional campuses compete - in the classroom, intramurals, Greek life, ICA, etc.

I supported or tried almost everything as an undergrad. Sports, blood drive, Black Family Day, Whole Earth Festival, social dance, volunteering, PE classes, Coffee House concerts. Though I can't recall if I ever made the Picnic Day pancake breakfast. Never made it to the top of Mrak Hall, never tipped a cow or made it to Plainfield Station (when did it open?).
  • Week 3: Dixie State at UC Davis
Game officially a sellout. I hope students stay at least until halftime.

Would be nice if Hawkins pulled some first half trickery to liven it up. More 2 point fun?

    BREAKING: USC fires head coach.

Wow. 5-1 last year, a few close wins. San Jose State had it close in the 3rd quarter.
  • Week 2: UC Davis @ University of San Diego
I wish we subbed earlier in San Diego. The game was a lock.

Very favorable schedule. At SLO, rebuilding year #1. BYE before last 3 games. EWU and Sac at home.
  • FCS Polls Week 2
Week #4, Weber, huge. The win over Tulsa was beautiful, setting this up.
  • Week 2: UC Davis @ University of San Diego
Duel w Hastings? Gunnor Faulk also looked solid and mobile last year.
  • Week 3: Dixie State at UC Davis
Recall the 2 point conversion Magic ran in the special formation. TT one on one with a linebacker?

Imagine that formation on 3rd and short, or 4th and short in a critical juncture, in a critical game. EWU? Midfield.

I'm told many faculty applicants now have to demonstrate how they have advocated and supported Social Justice Warrior (SJW) causes.
