  • Week 3: Cal Poly @ #21 UC Davis
I hadn't really thought of it before, but do the linemen take on the battle in the trenches, often allowing others to rack up the stats (tackles)?
  • April 1st+ possible fan attendance?
We have a wealth of data now, and other successful states implementing procedures.

My understanding is that LA County was hit hard, and both areas have large Latino communities. A friend who works in assisted living got Covid, and said he felt like he got hit by a truck. Others felt little.

Is the MyTurn site the State site?
  • Week 2: #23 UC Davis @ #2 Weber State
Did our Wildcat QB really have on gloves? Weber announcers felt this was part of a sure indication he'd never throw.

Didn't Bob Williams leave them loaded w talent?

Yes, Whelan can boom it. He had a massive high punt, and our special teams allowed a 32 yard return when we had about 8 defenders in his hip pocket.

Coach Hill said the 4th down conversion changed the game. Rodriguez only completes 40% of passes... I thought they had a poor pass defense? Second time we stopped their RB (71 yards). When they went uptempo, we couldn't sub personnel.

    Random stats

    Rodriguez rushed 18 times
    We lost 38 yds rushing
    Punting average: 51.5 vs 38.1
They put 5 punts inside the 20 (vs 1)
We blasted them on 3rd down conversion
Our two top WR, and TE, all had 1 reception
In Q3, we ran the ball 10x in a row

The Weber HC made a good point, they played well after we scored our first TD. Maybe we kept our TEs home bc of the Weber pressure, but there must be a way to keep them off balance - bubble screens, dinks over the D line into the hole (Thorpe?). If we bring in a Wildcat QB, which I found interesting, we need to be more confident, and why not throw or add an unexpected wrinkle after the Wildcat first down.

I found it concerning that Rodriguez repeatedly threw into heavy coverage. Our offensive line appeared to wear down in the second half. We miss Erron Duncan and Nick Eaton. Inconsistent refs didn't help.

Great effort. Do we move up in the rankings throwing a scare into the #2 team?

We go to TE Thorpe w under a minute left. Ugh.
  • Week 2: #23 UC Davis @ #2 Weber State
    I know... QB keeper.

    Rodriguez 9 of 22, 2 picks.
  • Week 2: #23 UC Davis @ #2 Weber State
Our QB status has come back to earth. Two picks, wild throw, throwing consistently into double & triple coverage. It looks like our O line is outmatched in the 2nd half.
  • Week 2: #23 UC Davis @ #2 Weber State
I saw Castles on the sideline.

We don't have the tempo we're most successful with. Cody Hawkins not mixing up the play calling?
  • Week 2: #23 UC Davis @ #2 Weber State
Correct. Maybe playing Carmen San Diego w our TEs.

WHY DO WE THROW INTO TRIPLE COVERAGE??

We need a bonafide big win. Here is the perfect opportunity, less moral victories.
  • Week 2: #23 UC Davis @ #2 Weber State
We had an 85-yd scoring drive, also like 5 of 6 early on 3rd down plays. Rodriquez scrambling adds a critical dimension for an easy 1st down, or broken play. Hutton quiet, Babb made a key longish play and yards after catch. D playing well.
  • Week 2: #23 UC Davis @ #2 Weber State
I'm glad they followed my advice to get playmaker Babb in earlier :nerd: ... notice the 15+ yds he added to the catch?

Sweet toss to our sizable TE. Rock the FCS!!
  • MBB: Big West Semi-Final, UC Santa Barbara vs. UC Davis, Friday March 12 at 6 pm
Tough to compete w UCSB and Irvine when we recruit and use only token Bigs. Notice the free throw differential. I don't see any new schemes, it appears Coach Les is running the same perimeter offense he implemented at Bradley. (When he first arrived he didn't use a different system to suit the talent he had.) He didn't use Bozner, who may have bucked the micro management. PF Logan Strom transferred out.

It's live and die by the perimeter game. We'll occassionally land a Corey Hawkins or Chima Moneke, but talented long wings go Pac 12. And no one wants to go the Long Beach State route. Little players like TJ Shorts, a warrior, get ground down.
