He could be a candidate to replace the OC at Kal.

Sac rolling, only loses to FBS teams.

Pretend. Two less turnovers, and no keeper for a 21 yd gain on the fake punt. Defense gets more recoup time, and offense has more reps.

Three big changes with no physicality requirement. Closer game, but I still think our O game plan comes up short. We only started moving the ball when they went to a 4 man front.

Shout out to DL Bryce Rogers for 11 tackles, 9 solo, and 1 Sack! DB Jordan Perryman had 9 tackles, 8 solo! Youngsters Eaton and Venable 5 each, and transfer LBs Hansen and Scharetg also chipped in.

Have any insiders heard how Facey performed in practice?
  • Week 9: Weber State @ UC Davis
It's possible we sacrificed depth at RB to load up at other positions. I did a quickie comparison vs our opponent a week or 2 back which showed we had 4 more players at TE, WR, and QB. Unfortunate TT and Facey injured.

Adding TT might have helped, but Weber is beastly. Don't forget: 3 turnovers.

Many of your thoughts, fly sweeps, deep passes, likely impossible with a dominant defensive front. Maybe more quick slants, screens, dinks to the TE, and a hurry up tempo might help.

I do agree Crawford passing is no longer a surprise. Outside of our fake punt last week, where is our deception. Weber even upped us there with the Philly Surprise by a 3rd string QB & other plays. Where is our Philly or Hide the Midget trickery?

Buckle up. Portland State no slouch.

    [Utah] Standard Examiner

"WSU stifled the prolific passing arm of senior Jake Maier to his worst career game ... Maier threw 18 of 29 for 160 yards, 68 of which came on a final garbage-time drive..."

Coach Hill: "Coverage was outstanding, the safeties did a phenomenal job disguising...."

"In the end, Weber outgained UC Davis 450 yards to 204...."

"The lopsided first half saw WSU run a whopping 54 offensive plays to only 18 for UC Davis...."

"WSU started to pin its ears back defensively in the fourth, forcing Maier into several bad passes with a relentless rush from the defensive line. Linebacker Noah Vaea nearly recorded two interceptions in the frame, narrowly dropping each, and Heckard nearly had another one...."

" “We had 92 offensive plays to their 46. You talk about coming in and executing a game plan, I can’t be more proud of these coaches,” Hill said. “I’ve got great assistants and I’ve got great players who executed this game plan almost perfectly.”

WSU was playing without one of their top wide receivers.

Weber and Sac, undefeated in FCS, play in Sac next week.

FWIW, last year we scored approx. 40 PPG, this year 30 PPG.

Not as dramatic in total yardage, which has gone from about 490 YPG to 420 YPG.

Babbs has playmaking ability, Harrell ran track. When TT healthy, teams can't key on Gilliam. I loved him at 235 / 245, punishing! We have talented TEs, my guess is we had to keep them home all night. (Announcers said one of their DEs will get an NFL shot.)
  • Week 9: Weber State @ UC Davis
Near the goal line, we try to run it up the gut?

Then we try something like a double flea flicker on the extra point?

As a team, we periodically seem to lack grit. When up, we don't put people away. Come out flat vs Montana. Skill players preening when we're down 3 scores or in a tough first quarter. Oh well, some time to rest, heal, and focus on finishing strong. With playoffs shot, I hope Thomas redshirts.

CAForever +1. Some will say, "Kraft and Crawford are out"... well, everyone has injuries, and its a position we're deep at.

Edit: I would like to compliment our Defense. We shut down their explosive RBs, we had stops, we bent and didn't break, and we eventually were gassed.

After the catch, Harrell aims for the ground before contact? Not a Doss, Kraft or Crawford move.

Notice Weber brought in their 3rd string QB to run a trick play?
  • Week 9: Weber State @ UC Davis
Announcers saying the change was attributed to Weber changing their D. They went from a 6 or 5 man front to 4.

If its that simple, look for them to change back.
  • Week 9: Weber State @ UC Davis
Frk. At some point, we could try Hunter Rodriques, who could roll out, scramble, give us a different look.
  • Week 9: Weber State @ UC Davis
How did they score a quick 3?
  • Week 9: Weber State @ UC Davis
Announcers claim Weber puts an emphasis on changing and hiding D looks. If a D is that tough, aren't there plays where you let em through and dink it to a RB or TE over the line with a quick hit, or a quick slant?
  • Week 9: Weber State @ UC Davis
    Ug. Lee.

Weber getting a lot of pressure. No expert here, but our O play calling seems predictable. Where is our quick slant, bubble screen, something.

Weber has enough swag to try back to back trick plays. We need to have some sustained offensive drives, or our D will eventually fold.
