Lots of predictable running plays in the 1st quarter, 3 and out. One 6 plays and out. Then we buried them in one series passing, and went back to the predictable running game while they buried us.

Good point. But if we had gone up 14-0 or 17-0 early on, defense had more rest, everything changes. Maybe a few less penalties and calmer heads.

We have a dominant passing game, but went with Vintage Gould. How did that sound good to Hawk & Speckman?

Our D was extremely effective in the beginning of the game, offense not. Play calling baffling. Penalties worse. Defense on the field too long.

Did we have more than 1 player ejected, or injury bug? At one point we probably had 5 or 6 Defensive Sophs + RF on the field ... Rodgers, Jamison (stud predictions true), Bennett, RF Wilson and Airey.

Hard to compare the EWU game vs NAU. If Cookus was on, they would have buried us. The league has tape now. Great effort by players.

Maybe you'll get lucky and we'll run the Gould offense second week in a row.

I'm befuddled by our Off play calling. JW had 11 carries early in the game w little success. Our one successful 1st half drive we went to the air with DOMINANCE. Uptempo & passing perfect combo. Then we go back to the ground. We get 2 sacks, an INT, Cookus off day / 45% passing, have a 100 yard return, and Maier completes 70%, sounds like a W. 4 of 16 on 3rd down is killer. If our O line was challenged, why not a delayed draw, dink over the middle, short passes into the flat.

Half a dozen Sophs got lots of PT on D, did we have more than 1 ejection? 15 penalties, several targeting calls. Breakout game for SOs Jamison (8 tackles) and DL Rodgers. RF Connor Airey also studs out, RF Andrew Wilson sees PT. They blew up 2 screens?, shut down the Fly. No expert here, but the fly w / LM seems to struggle, and Modise seems to get perpetually tripped up before he turns the corner. TThomas, who played well against EWU, had 2 big runs late in the game. Two red zone opportunities during attempted comeback net 3 points.

We never gave up and played hard. WR Marks is a beast. When NAU struggles in the 1st quarter you have to capitalize.

And EWU was beat by SUU!

That last stop was by RF Andrew Wilson. .. We had 3 Sophs out there at linebacker later today....Bennett, Leota, Jamison... and Rodgers at DL.

+1 Gould running plays not working, fly sweep not working, passing game worked... so then we ignored it. Maier was 7 of 11 in the 1st half, and 2 misses were rushed. ... no Tehran Thomas all game, then we put him in the second half? ... and no passes to Moore, our acrobatic WR?... I agree, Doss a stud so you go to him. Dosd had almost 200 yards against the Aztecs!

Two times in the red zone, Gould call up the middle fails, we come away w 3 points. Ugh.
