It sounds like they're just putting seats in an intra-mural area of an existing building. Maybe they could bulldoze the existing gym and put in a baseball stadium that has real restrooms ?

How do they even recruit with the hornet gym ? "Hey, our gym's not great, but on the plus side half of the time you'll play somewhere else !"

@Toke69 I agree. I think we've all lost perspective to some extent. This may be fun to others but I get the sense that we have a lot of perfectionists in our midst who love to analyze the crap out of what went wrong when we don't get the sports results we want. It can't just be for fun. Aside from fun what is even the point of non-participants watching and commenting on it ? Call it a result of being a science and research-driven school, but people are losing their **** over each play that doesn't go UCD's way.
Why ? Every mistake seemingly diminishes the perfection we expect from the student-athletes. As a reflection of ourselves perhaps ?

I've been guilty of the same over-analysis with baseball, even though playoffs are a pipe dream right now. No more. My post about the 2024 schedule is probably the last baseball post I'll do for the season barring an exciting development. Time to enjoy just being there and being outside while still hating the visiting fans who don't know their place.

Because Lan Larrison could hypothetically transfer to Boise State to avoid BlueGoldAg elbowing Snack State fans and saying, "My boy Larrison-you can't stop him ! What did I tell you ???!!!"

This is the best outcome for UCD with all the regular season games in the books. You make your case for the playoffs all season, not just in the last 2 weeks. Two weeks ago they were 5-4, 5-3 if you throw out the Oregon State game.. That's not the record of a playoff team.

But it's ok. If you are a UCD spectator of any sport you know it's about going and having a good time whatever the outcome. Nice if they make the playoffs , but that's the coaches' problem.

So the Rainbow Warriors beat the Purple Eagles ? Must have been some colorful exchanges in that game.

What I remember about that game was that everyone was standing on their seats, which were benches. Some idiot security guard singled me out to tell not to stand on the seat and I was like, you tell all these other people to do the same so I can see the game and then I will get down.
I stood on the seat until the last play. That game was not worth it, which I can pretty much say of any sporting event now that I have to battle adverse weather to watch, like the time there was lightning at Dobbins Stadium and I stayed to watch the game when it resumed. Worse for the players though.

Make sure to open the window and place a garbage can underneath it on the exterior side before throwing out the records and rankings, or else you will wind up on "Neighborhood Wars" when some barefoot Sac State alumnus wearing a dirty tanktop and sweat pants knocks on your door to fight you over being beaned with the records and rankings.

Oh good, WSU will finally finish 2nd in the Pac-12 without those other 10 teams in the way.

The UCSD series is Sat thru Mon. That must be finals week. Otherwise it makes no sense.

Starting next year that last weekend series will be replaced by the Big West Tournament so the conference portion will end a week earlier. Since the Aggies are unlikely to finish in the top 5 anytime soon they will start ending their season a week early.

To be fair Hawkins would be able to get better recruits with Boise State. The looser academic requirements would allow for a wider search. Not to mention that Boise State being in Boise isn't that much of a recruiting impediment when recruits get to see the kinds of crowds that will appreciate them

Personally I would think it a blessing if the Aggies won next week and were passed over for the playoffs. Why ? They'd be paired against a better playoff team (an SDSU, NDSU, Montana school) who would just manhandle them and this would just tack another loss on the season. The players and coaches would strongly disagree as they want to keep playing but the only ways the season ends on a positive note is if they beat Sac State and don't go the playoffs or they win the national championship game, to which they've never been.

To read the box scores and the moanings of board members this team has trouble scoring points period. Just sneaking by barely beating regular season teams isn't a glowing recommendation for playoff success.

And besides, UCD doesn't have to be in the playoffs for you to go spend thousands of dollars venturing to podunk towns to watch Triple-A college football. Nothing like taking a trip just for the heck of it.

His boy Skattebo ? Guy sounds like a loser living vicariously through the team. Probably has a closet full of Skattebo jerseys. Where's his boy Skattebo now ? Visiting fans who don't know their place are irritating. Where were these hornet fans when the team was bad ? Bunch of bandwagon losers. A big reason I want to end the Causeway Classic is doing so will greatly decrease the need for hornet fans like that to sully UCDavis Health Stadium with their presence.
