Northern Colorado would look really impressive if they played Rhody's schedule from this season. Look, I don't want to dump on them too much (especially since our game hasn't been played yet and schedules are made in advance), but the facts are that the CAA just isn't that strong of a conference and even within the conference they missed most to all of the hard hitters. It would be like if we had a season where we didn't play either Montana and then claimed we were world beaters.

That's not surprising to me. If Caden sticks around then the starting job is locked up years and we have brought in A LOT of QBs in the last couple seasons.

Massey is giving Rhode Island a 95% chance of beating Central Connecticut this weekend. I think that is the most likely outcome, though I'm really not all that sold on Rhode Island as it stands. They only played 1 team in Massey's top 30 and 2 if you stretch it out to the top 50. Heck most of their opponents for the season were ranked 80+. Meanwhile, Davis only had 2 opponents outside of the top 50. Has all the markings of a paper tiger. Now I don't think that we can take the weekend off if we do get matched up with them, but all of the data that I can see says they ain't all that.

Still have a ways to go though! Would love to see it a packed house after last seasons attendance let down.

I mean, I'll admit I'm a pretty selfish fan and graduate of UC Davis. I guess these guys have to do what's best for themselves whether that's financially or career-wise in football. I don't wish ill on players that choose to leave, but I'm also not going to pretend that I'm happy for them that they are choosing opportunities over Davis. Idk, like I said, maybe I'm the outlier here.

It sucks that this is what college football has turned into. FCS teams who find real talent and develop them just for FBS teams swoop in after the fact. I hope Caden and Drew both stay, but I agree that keeping Drew will be the real challenge.

Fisher has him beat in straight line speed, but I agree that Vargas ran in a way that made you say "that's a special RB".

My guess is that he's getting a paycheck and didn't want to split carries. Disappointing for sure though. He added a different dimension in the run game.

one of them straight up said that he barely had Davis in his ballot because we weren't blowing teams out... Objectively stronger teams than what Rhode Island had to play over the course of the season. I hope we get and beat Rhode Island so maybe he as a voter will re-evaluate his criteria for voting. Same with him saying Tennessee Tech should have been seeded because they were dropping 40+ per game on even weaker opponents than Rhode Island faced.... Just a strange strange rationale and for him to be that heated about... Weird guy.
