  • Low Interest in Men's Basketball?
Yeah I'm not gonna lie most of the games being on Thursdays makes it harder to go to the games in person this year. Also, Elijah Pepper was a draw IMO. I think we also are kinda in a period of new players that people are still getting used to. Most people I know went to more games last year or the year before, the reason why im not quite sure. I know that many of the people I know only really care about UC games though, not because the non-uc teams are not fun to watch, but they know people at schools like UCSB much more than csu bakersfield or northridge. I think the big west is less competitive this year with the top being so heavy.

I really am hoping at the latest 2028, but would love a 26-27 addition.

I am SO stoked that we got a MW invite, football included or not. I can’t imagine we would join the conference without serious plans to join for football in the future, and having that landing pad set with our new conference affiliation is really fantastic for the future of UCD football. Now, sac joining the FBS as an independent is arguably worse than just staying in FCS with current conference alignment. We saw what happened when Idaho was FBS independent, and the csu system is facing many more challenges unrelated to football already, that could leave sac as a loner without much support to back them. They don’t have the insane levels of support financially like a say, liberty university did when they moved up, no matter what Luke Wood says.

it sounds like UNLV may not be swayed with the media eval.. hoopefully!

Will be interesting seeing what pac12 alignment looks like in the new few weeks. Leaks coming out makes it seem like their media deal may not be as great as expected, keeping the MW that we are joining in the form we expected it to...

curious about the new d1 reclassification rules that d1 members transitioning from fcs to fbs only have a 1 year transition period of ineligibility for playoffs/bowl games if they meet certain standards (which davis would). Seems timely during all this conference realignment stuff..

Luke wood going on twitter and tweeting about literally nothing but “sac state would be UCLA” and basically acting like they are already set to be a power 5 team is so confusing… I guess confidence is good but at a certain point it just seems over the top

not gonna lie, I know this may be a temporary stadium but I don’t really see how it’s that much better than the current stadium other than a few extra rows… I don’t really understand what’s taken them so long

Very happy about this news. Right where we need to be. Would like to see some university news about renovations or such to point in the direction of an invite eventually.

I would prefer we announce an FBS move with or before sac state.

I don’t think a single person on this thread cares how much you make dude. Banter and disrespect are different things. I think everyone in this sub tracks sac because it’s a fun rivalry and it’s interesting seeing who they bring in and what next years competition will look like (especially with an interesting hire like they just got). I think most people here want sac to succeed as well (I don’t know anyone who would want to move conferences, change schedules, etc and NOT have sac every year). I think people on here also are interested in observing and commenting on sac state stadium and larger athletics department news because yall are right across the causeway, share similar media markets, are rivals in sports, and constantly interact as school entities. I don’t think it’s disrespectful to critique some of the negotiating/ communication moves that sac has made in relation to stadium and conference announcements. Most people here want to see sac succeed, and seeing some ways of making moves from the sac side as over the top, unrealistic, or reckless comes from a place of interest and care not wanting y’all to collapse or something.

In all seriousness, good hire, should keep the causeway classic competitive!

why do you think the ft we’re so off? I didn’t even think that was a major issue early this year.

dude seems like a nice guy but everytime he has a press conference or posts something on twitter, he sounds like he’s gonna say “just wait! If you give me 5 months, the best, the greatest, car (stadium and conference option) will be revealed! And get this! You get this deal and this tax write off blabababa”

thanks for this. It would make sense that the MW wants 10 members and Davis seems to be a likely plug in for that 10th once NIU commits
