NDSU controlling the game on first quarter 14-0. Only 1 possession for Montana State in first quarter (will get ball with a minute or so left in 1st quarter.

Great audible for Miller when MSU only had 4 in the box (no nose guard up middle) and no backers up the middle. Miller went 60 yards or so for TD. Bad scheme by MSU. Total bust.

looks like 3rd or ? chance. I have to chuckle when I see the word “committed” in all caps for dudes who have been at two or three schools. Sort of like a guy “committing” to his third or fourth marriage.

    Merry Christmas to all.

I really liked Hunter Rodriguez. He had some wheels. That season (2021) was off to a great start, then Hunter was concussed at Weber. That Idaho State game was weird, Hunter did not have a good game and I wonder if his concussion and laying out a couple of games affected him. The keys were turned over to Miles and he struggled a bit that year and the SDSU game was painful. Also lost the causeway. I agree that it would be good to have a QB who can extend plays and run when necessary. The flip side is to not be a pull it down and run after first read is not there QB. That impairs development and risks injuries.

I guess Cotton taken due to size. Personally I hope Bains ends up staying. Great tackler.

In all honesty, Brock and Dwight deserve a break
Agreed. They have jobs and families. Love their podcasts - a great inaugural season, hope they can continue with football next season.

If you go to New Orleans, I’d highly recommend the fairly new WW II museum, although that sort of thing is not what most people go to New Orleans for. It is outstanding. However Jan./Feb. is a much better time to go - very hot and humid in the summer months.

The 2 QB system is rare and now days is realized only with a second QB who is a runner and is used in wildcat. QB is the one position in which reps and development is required. Messing with a QB rotation normally benefits no one - look at Montana for instance. That was a disaster.

Re: Lan, he was exceptional and you get him the ball as much as possible. He won multiple games for the Ags. You could argue that he could have used a few more breaks. He was durable, and it was an unfortunate break when he went done in the quarterfinal game.

Ironically I think playing more skill position players is more logical when you have a .500 team and are not going to make playoffs. Then you have the opportunity to evaluate game time performance and develop others. But when you are in a great run and headed to the playoffs, you go with the best unless they need breathers or are injured.

An exception on the other end may have been Montana State as they had 3 very good runners of similar performance, and had put most games away so early they could pull starters. However, when they needed the starters in in the fourth quarter in Davis, they were gassed which could be attained to not being in a lot of fourth quarters.

USD head coach said Davis was one-dimensional which made it easier to defend. I have to believe Larison going down in the second quarter contributed to that and really changed the tenor of the game. Not just his running ability and threat to break one at any time, but the swing passes and short routes that get him some space. That put a lot of pressure on Hastings to get most everything done in the air and I think made Hastings force some throws he shouldn’t have, especially when the defense knew they wouldn’t have to deal with Larison.

It ain’t hard to start connecting dots that this is probably about getting Sac State to help pay for the new MLS stadium, and to sweet talk some politicians into more Indian casinos and maybe a sports betting deal - for which the PAC12 brand is important. Pack the pork barrel with some preselected contractors and then hire a company owned by the president’s brother to run the venue, or maybe even to own the venue and lease it back to CSUS at a markup

Legislators routing tax dollars to and getting campaign donations from contractors and labor unions, tribal casinos and Sac president’s brother getting consulting fees. I mean, what could go wrong???

Add to that Michael Vick, and maybe add in some drug manufacturing scheme to generate “revenue” and you have yourself one whale of a Netflix documentary or series. Maybe “Breaking SAC12”.
  • Looking forward to 2025
David Rasor is listed as a sophomore but has only burned one year of eligibility, so he was sort of a redshirt freshman this year in those terms. Should have 3 more years of eligibility. Maybe I could be incorrect, but he wasn’t on the team until last year.

Great season. Loved that I was able to see the win at Montana in person. Ags had not quit in them all season. Very tough to make it past semifinals.

The first pick, Williams wasn’t looking for the ball, and he wasn’t blocking so I don’t know what the deal was.
