agreed. I think Hawkins wanted to take time off the clock and give the defense a breather, but the if it doesn’t work mix it up. If they are going to win they are going to have to score more so why not open it up.

So far the Tulsa QBs has happy feet. Doesn’t look calm under pressure.

win the turnover battle and being able to run will be key to keeping them in the game

I just believe that many athletes today have no patience - and bounce around with the “grass is always greener” syndrome, and enabled by the transfer portal. I also believe why he “didn’t gain traction” was that there were 2 clearly better backs in front of him. Work hard and wait your turn clearly isn’t in the psyche of many athletes today. Personally I think he could be a much better back if he ram more aggressively - he seemed to run tentatively without much drive to get the last yard or two. Maybe he will get more playing time at New Mexico, but their program has been pretty miserable lately (2-5 last year) although better than New Mexico States which is abysmal. I also like Rocky Long, ex SDSU coach and d-coordinator now for UNM. He gives great interviews - doesn’t take to kindly to obvious or pious questions - I start laughing just watching his expressions.

Watched a replay of the bowl game was in against Mississippi State. One thing that I noticed was a lot of cheap shots Tulsa gave during the game. The sort of sneaky step on you, knee you sort of crap. MSU players were not too happy with it but Tulsa was not flagged although a ref had a talk with a Tulsa defender who grabbed a players towel and threw it. I suspect some of it was frustration losing to a 3-6 MSU team. Hopefully a clean game wotj little or no injuries.

have always liked king. Great in coverage and lb. for lb. best tackler on the squad probably. Hope he is ok.

that’s good to hear. Crawford is probably the Ags best receiver.

15-15. He looks much more comfortable now than in much of his last year. He’s got the old accuracy going.

“I just signed up for ESPN + and don’t know how available replays will be.”

Riveraggie: They are available pretty much immediately (or at least within 24 hours) after the event. Not sure how long they are preserved, but for sure at least a week and likely more. just browse via the ESPN app using categories like ncaa football and the games will be there. Probably can directly search for team too. I’ve subscribed to ESPN+ the last 2 or 3 years to get college football - especially FCS and the on-demand feature is nice.

The “cooler turf” sounds like marketing to me. So the cork would likely store less energy (lower heat capacity) but have a higher albedo (reflectivity) than the rubber infill but the surface color is still green and it doesn’t transpire (evaporate) like real grass. So I fail to see much of a difference in the air temperature (sensible heat) above the field. Like Dick Vitale says “it’s all about energy balance baby!”

Hate to see him go. Didn’t show much last year when given a shot - looked tentative.

Exactly what I thought. Didn’t seem to want to hit the hole hard. I heard some stats recently on the portal and they weren’t as favorable as far as athletes getting picked up as I think the athletes think. It certainly is not a pro in terms of college degree pursuit and education with bouncing around with pretty much only playing time in mind.

I think if Tompkins is going to “win” the job, he will need to start assuming the Barriere model, I.e., a pass first, run second approach (at least on designed pass plays) and Barriere has matured in that regard. . With such success running it is hard to get in a mindset of keeping the feet quiet and letting plays develop rather than pulling the ball down quickly. Oddly, it’s a bit of a difficult position to be in when you can run so well. He will need to be a dual threat if at QB, and this past spring he was pretty much a one-way threat. I do think a strong offensive line and a good running game that wears down folks is a more consistent recipe for wins than a more pass happy approach. Anyway tompkins needs to be playing somewhere and there are other options in addition to QB. Anyway I hope things will sort out. I am hoping for a healthy UG all season- in my mind he is still the most valuable player on the team (at least offense)
