Bee today still after LK. This is just a bone it won't give up. Sorry newspaper. We must be one of the few major universities in the country which has a very hostile major newspaper to deal with. And for what end? Crazy.
  • WBB WNIT: UC Davis Aggies (25-7) @ Washington State Cougars (14-19)
Do we really make our kids play during finals?

Unless it's bad news don't expect coverage from the bee.
  • Les Reportedly to Be Interviewed for Cal Head Coaching Position
Typical cal: les uninspiring what the hell that means?
  • Les Reportedly to Be Interviewed for Cal Head Coaching Position
Cal will never ever hire a UC Davis head coach. Just too demeaning for them. We're safe for now.
  • WBB WNIT: Aggies (24-7) @ Colorado State (25-8)
I am pretty sure the strategic redshirt notion has come up with the coaching staff. and it might be a good idea especially if we can recruit to one of our present weaknesses: the lack of a very quick and athletic point guard. I love the Eatons a lot and they are very talented, but against the top teams our guards are sometimes simply are not fast enough. plus, we lack a slashing type penetrating presence on the court who could help Nagel do her stuff inside. rebounding is another issue. Now maybe this can be addressed off season. Kourtney can work on speed and Morgan can add some muscle, but these issues are what may be called somethings that cant be coached: speed and rebounding skills/fearlessness and athleticism. Is there a JC player out there who fits that role? that's the question. Plus, with this close nit team I would put it to a vote of the team before making such a move. there is great chemistry there that you don't want to mess with. complicated! Also, I see Nina as a real star next season, so maybe not to worry so much.

Great win. And again silence from the bee. Not a mention. Sad for the women. BAD Road selection AFTER 5 ROAD GAMES would be a story for any other paper but the bee
  • WBB WNIT: Aggies (24-7) @ Colorado State (25-8)
Very bad indeed. What have we played 5 straight away games? I don't think gross expected the double-triple teams on Bertch today. And those Swedish girls are toughies, you betcha. But we will be prepared next time. 3 on 1 means 4 on 2, so theres a few plays to be made off of that situation.
  • WBB WNIT: Aggies (24-7) @ Colorado State (25-8)
Also the AGGIES are ranked higher than Washington state by a significant margin in the rpi posted 3/12. But I AGREE THE Pac12 is politically way more powerful than BIG WEST SO EXPECT A TRIP NORTH

Sorry will carry on here. Why are you so anti-UC DAVIs in your coverage? Answer: we are the "Watch dog" of the community and take pride on our investigative reporting. We hav e no particular interest in. Promoting UC Davis or any other institution. That is their job not ours. Question: but what about the good news from UC DAVIS? Answer: "good news" is not real news and people don't really care about it. Maybe in davis, but not in sac. So, she has a vary odd and negative view of journalism. Bee coverage cannot get any worse without her. Tht said, NCAA coverage the Ags not so bad.

During the height of the LK problem I finally was so fed up with the bees position on this issue that I sent an email directly to Cheryle Dees. I asked her directly: Why are you so
  • UC Davis Aggies vs NC Central Eagles @ Dayton, OH
Fairly poor article by the chronicle which I take and read. The snide denigrating comments about the campus took me back to the '60s when this was common- yes, complete with the smell of cow manure and reference to clueless "aggie" students. Well, I still liked the article because it did take me back in time to when our teams were called "F---king farmers" and the like, yet we often won against the name callers. And yes, the reference to cows brought back fond memories of my time at Davis. The writer is probably a berkeley grad, so consider the source. Allow, what else is he to write about? Cal losing to backo?

If Hexter stays that would be great. But its very likely that he will be recruited away due to his success at UC Davis. His academic hires were great as well. I very much would like to see him stay on. What article says he will?
  • 2016-17 Big West Preseason Poll
What effect this will have on recruiting is obviously unknown, but it may be significantly positive. Irvine sure used its long run to effectively out recruit everyone else in the Big West for years. I also think that Les might want to fly to Australia for a recruiting jaunt with Chima. Can't let st mary's have a monopoly on that talent down under. Does anyone know the story on how we landed Chima?
  • Ags vs. 'Eaters: For all the marbles
Is there any chance the aggies could play in sac? NCAA should try and make that happen if possible. Would bring great crowd. This is where AD Blue could in Handy. Work those phones!
  • Ags vs. 'Eaters: For all the marbles
Defense is the key here and les knows it. No slow starts at this point. Aggies have to put on their best defense of their lives tonight to win. I think they can and will. Go ags.
  • Bob Williams out at UCSB
I have so much respect for coach Williams for what he did for UC Davis. I have fond memories of him coming to a meeting in Young Hall in the mid-90's with his wife and kids where the topic was: should UC Davis move to D1? All the coaches were there and staff. I forget who the moderator was, but the two most eloquent speakers were Williams and diane vorchaster in favor of such a move. Strangely Coach Sochor and the football staff were mostly silent that day. Both Williams and vorchaster were of the opinion that such a move would be good, not just for sports, but for the diversity of the university. Well, nothing happened after that meeting for years, but they were very prescient that day with their thoughts which turned out to be very true. I wish Williams the best of luck in the future. He is a great guy!

Whatever any of these other universities do, they do for the benefit of the student and the university based on their own policies Or, perhaps, if a land grant school, the general and the goal policies of land grant universities. Not because of some pressure from a local newspaper who wants to "revive the sacramento downtown" with UCD undergrads presumably shopping and going to Kings games. In the midst of the whole LK thing there was some mention that the bee felt that LK had reneged on the "World Food Center" that the bee felt she had "promised" to deliver for the rail yard project. The bee wanted sac to become a "world food center". Problem: UCD academic senate did not like this idea at all and it was basically killed. That was the final straw for the bee which felt betrayed and went on to to make sure LK did not survive. Now the bee is on to the same scheme with May: Deliver on some sac UC Downtown stuff or we will hit you with your board sitting same as LK> AND THAT WAS not a pretty thing to watch. Oh, and this just out: Sacramento wants to be named the "FOOD TO FORK CAPITAL OF THE COUNTRY" AND WILL PUT SAME ON ITS GIANT WATER TOWER! Seems to be a thing sac really wants!! Watch out May. Who said keep your friends close and your enemies closer? LK never followed that rule and it cost her dearly.

My first response is that in the course of all the drama last summer fully all the academic senate signed a letter in the bee supporting LK. On the issue of the sac bee and UC Davis coverage, I live n ow in the Bay Area and read the SF Chronicle daily. The Chronicle reports all the news about UC Berkeley UCSF and Stanford's achievments on a daily basis in a very positive and friendly way. The Chron is very proud of its universities and says so. Strangely, the bee does not do so with UCD. Its reporting on UC Davis and city of davis is very negative." Yet, and this is important, the bee wants a UC campus in the downtown, why, not for the benefit of UC students, but for the "economy of their downtown" Not a real benefit for UC Davis.
