My favorite play was CJ Hutton’s 40 yard run, where he just ran squarely into a safety 15 yards down field , bounced off him and then continued another 25 yards for a touchdown. Hutton runs like a running back.

I think so. As a freshman Toki was listed as an offensive lineman, and he’s played on field goals as a lineman but I don’t believe he was ever in the backfield. Chubba did that last year.

Who started at corner in place of Alexander?
    Live stats link is broke.

Just going by guys who haven’t played, recently the team has been without backup defensive ends Carrillo and Carrade, linebacker Garretson , cornerbacks Verner and McWilliams.
They played Antzoulatos, Sarac, and Cloyd st Garreton’s spot so they appear ok there.
They got some good play from Newman and Masui as reserve defensive ends, but those guys are a fall off as far as pass rush from Carrillo and Carrade.
Alexander, last years starter at cornerback played Verner and McWilliams position.

What if anything have you heard about the status of Verner or McWilliams?

Seems impractical with all different helmets. If Davis does it they should mention what the sticker signifies, great game, games played, games started or what. Maybe someone here knows.
  • Pac-12 set to add Boise, 3 other MW schools
The 105 scholarship limit is an attempt by the top conferences to restrict competition. There was a temporary need to increase the scholarships because of the extra year of eligibility, that need is about expired.
The top FBS teams will have sitting on their bench unused talent that used to be in conferences like the Mountain West. The top conference’s level of play will very marginally increase while lower level conferences talent and FCS will significantly decline, and not be as competitive for TV contracts.

No one cares about the student enrollment in bowl games. Haven’t heard anyone not wanting their school to play Notre Dame because they don’t have 10,000 undergrads.

Thanks. The totality of peoples contributions is worthy of mention.
Storage is cheap these days, they should retain the old rosters of players and coaches so people can look this stuff up. You can’t even find out who the coaches were in 2010.

Biggs the QB in 72 was a Little “All-American”. Davis was selected to go to Atlantic City to play in the Boardwalk bowl, inside the Atlantic City Convention hall, against Massachusetts . The dimensions allowed only shallow end zones and while Davis racked up lots of yardage they could only score 14 points because they couldn’t pass into the end zone,
Back then the offensive line was between 210 and 240 lbs, so when they played scholarship schools it was tough to run. Might have been the first game ever on TV for Davis, i don’t know.
Biggs graduated and then 1973 Jim Speck was a true Freshman QB, threw for 419 yards against Boise State at Toomey field, and Davis lost 32-31. Couldn’t get a pass rush against Boise’s much bigger line.

I was a student at Davis 72-74, and I remember Lou Bronzan as a player, but they never mention his playing career in the Hall of Fame release besides that he played. I think he had a prominent role although I don’t recall the details and there certainly were some memorable games in that period.
  • FCS Rankings
Sagarin is all based on a matrix of point differentials, winning the game doesn’t count. Sac’s, narrower losses to San Jose and Fresno are better than Eastern Washingtons loss to Nevada is part of it.

They put Winston Williams in the backfield to block for Larison on a direct snap. TEs have similar skills as fullbacks. They have a bunch of tight ends, if they want to borrow one for that role.

SUU lost by a missed extra point in overtime to Tarleton a couple of weeks ago, have an FBS win and their running back has gained 1,000 yards already.

Regarding Eastern Washington whats the expectation for Verner and McWilliams playing in the game?
Alexander had an uneven game, although I’m glad he is still around.
  • FCS Rankings

The ranking of FCS teams filtered from Sagarin’s list includes two transitioning teams, so Davis would be number nine without those

All these stats are Big Sky Conference only.

Eastern Washington’s offense is similarly productive to Davis’ but they are much more effective rushing averaging 5.9 yards a carry to Davis’s 3.7.
Eastern Washington had 286 net yards rushing against Sac State, and 263 against Montana. They average almost six yards a carry. Their two running backs are similar in size to Larison, both 6’ tall 217 and 212 lbs, Their running QB taylor is also 6’ 200+ lbs..On the Sac State broadcast they said the offensive line has over 200 starts. Stopping the run is going to be a challenge.

Both teams complete a high percentage of passes, but Eastern throws less than half as many for less yardage per attempt. Interesting that Davis trails only Montana State in yards per pass attempt, and Montana State throws only about a third as much.

I wish they had run that swinging gate play.

  • 2024 Week 7: Cal Poly (2-3) @ UC Davis (5-1) Homecoming + Battle for the Golden Horseshoe
Winning against the California rivals is important for recruiting. Cal Poly more than Sac for the academically oriented prospects. Most the players were probably recruited by both teams.

Goligoski is rangy and quick and should be playing given the injuries at the position.
Can’t believe Miles forgot Tompkins TD reception last week.
