    yes, that’s our first game.
They are pretty good judging by yesterday’s game. I’m glad we don’t have their QB because he’s a statue. He can make deep throws though. It was funny when they ran some option plays and Eastern totally knew he wasn’t going to keep the ball or maybe hoped he would.
They have athletic receivers, one is a 6’2 215lb guy Hayden Hatten who can make a great catch and another who is powerfully built 6’0 205lb Cutrell Haywood who is pretty dangerous after the catch. They are tough defensively with a pair of touted linebackers. Stout defensive line. Going to be a good test for whoever we play at QB.
I’m not a fan of all white uniforms but it’s particularly unattractive with mustard helmets. Maybe it’s reminiscent of a potato with butter.

league should make sure none of the officials wear glasses. I typically cannot see through my glasses when wearing a mask
I don’t know if the ref by the goal post wore glasses or not but if not why fiddle with your mask?

The Idaho QB had proclaimed himself the best quarterback in the league before ever playing a down. www.spokesman.com/stories/2021/feb/27/late-touchdown-lifts-idaho-past-eastern-washington/%3famp-content=amp

The field goal call made a huge difference. The touchdown came on a 3rd and 11 play from the 25. With the game tied and in the final minute. There was an element of surprise with the call because the logical play would have been to try to move a little closer and center the ball for a field goal to win . If Eastern had led by 3 they would have been expecting the shot at the end zone as a more likely play.

NAU had no fans in attendance, the broadcast pair wore masks, were separated by plexiglass and at least one of them had already had his two vaccine shots. Either Arizona is way ahead on vaccinations or sportscasters are essential workers there.

Idaho game had a few thousand fans, including cheerleaders who stood in the stand with about five feet separating them, they could easily have spaced out a lot more. Seems like they were isolating the cheerleaders from the fans more than from each other,

. The Idaho / Eastern game was a very even contest, decided in the last few minutes. Idaho looks pretty good. Their QB is so Immobile it’s painful to watch though.
.Both that game and the Northern Arizona game had quality streams.
  • Coach Hawkins toughest test to date?
it’s absurd that after the majority of teams elsewhere have played their season with no notable problems due to COVID that a bureaucrat from a backwater county where Davis is the biggest town can impose arbitrary rules based on nothing but a whim
  • Coach Hawkins toughest test to date?
This is the glass half full point of view
If they play this could be a really good team.
We return a very veteran good offensive line.
Herrick, Vaughn, Babb, Crawford , Kraft, if healthy that’s a pretty impressive group of receivers.
Tight end is a bit of a question mark but we have a sophomore transfer from Cal, and some promising recruits from the last few years.
Running back position is deep with Gilliam, Dixon, Larson. Spencer etc
Defensive line has some huge transfers, and returns our best lineman Rogers
Linebackers return Eaton and Airey, along with returning guys who contributed as transfers last year, should be better now; Trimble missed last year but was playing well the year before. And we have two transfers from PAC 12 teams.
DB is so loaded I won’t even try to list.

Coach Hawkins: ”We’re getting there. We have a lot of talent, a lot of depth, a lot of experience.” https://www.sacbee.com/sports/article249317240.html

Who’s call was the 25 player limit? Any science behind that?
Davis somehow different than the majority of college football teams, something attributable to the water perhaps?
  • Coach Hawkins toughest test to date?

Sad if we are bemoaning the loss of Doss we have so many good veteran wide receivers, assuming they’re healthy.
How can we not have an element of surprise given we are changing QBs and coordinators? Who knows what that will look like?
    Didn’t Covid affect both sides?
  • The next Aggie QB?
    Thanks for the update.
The article lists Tompkins as 6’ 220, up 20lbs from his roster weight.

I liked Cody’s tone, saying he’s going to be collaborating with the other coaches, several of whom have been offensive coordinators. I think that’s a positive.
  • The next Aggie QB?
Tompkins may have got very muscular but he’s still listed at 200 as he was as a freshman. I spot checked various positions using the historical tab and their weights never changed. How many people weigh the same over the years between 18 and 21?
  • The next Aggie QB?
Maybe it is not anything he said but the fact he said anything,
Or maybe other candidates are still in the running and their omission from mention was unintentional.

Does anyone think our QB choice makes a difference to the opponent preparation? None of our QBs have played more than a few snaps if that, so I wouldn’t think it would make a difference which 6’1” or so mobile QB we chose to start.
  • The next Aggie QB?
    Any memorable points ?
  • The next Aggie QB?
The enterprise no longer shows the article. Wow, finally a bit of coverage and it disappears before I can read it.

    Yesterday was NLI signing day.
Portland State signed 20, many reportedly early according to the * in the table.

    https://goviks.com/news/2020/2/5/portland-state-vikings-football-signing-day.aspx

Idaho State signed seven. Their reason for not signing anyone on the early signing day is that it’s hard.

  • Montana, Montana State opt out of spring FCS championship season
The news on Arceneaux hiring said “ Michael Cody, who returns to the offensive line after previously being announced as the receivers coach.” So he is thee offensive line coach, and he worked with the OL in the Fall.
  • Montana, Montana State opt out of spring FCS championship season
Arceneaux seems to fill a need. We’ve got a bunch of young wide receivers and it will help that he played the position with some success.
I wonder why he left Southern Utah? He was special teams coordinator and coached tight ends and “inside receivers”.

Does limiting regional viewers to 120 miles make any sense at all in a global pandemic that’s been widespread everywhere for 12 months?!

I assume we’ll be able to view live stream via Pluto again this year, right?
It would be great if they would use the local team announcers on the audio for home games. Just simulcast the radio play by play. Sometimes I like the out of town announcers but it’s a rare thing.
