  • Week 9: Weber State @ UC Davis
Sagarin’s two prediction algorithms pick this each way by less than two points.
  • WEEK 8: AGGIES @ THUNDERBIRDS
That’s too bad about Drakeley, he was getting a lot of playing time and seemed pretty good.
  • WEEK 8: AGGIES @ THUNDERBIRDS
You are correct; it seems that a medical exception is not too hard to get, example Gage Gubrud last year who played in five games and had redshirted earlier in his career got a sixth year. So based on that anyone injured who missed 2/3 of his team’s games should apply for that.
I don’t think the five year rule is fair. A player should be able to interrupt their college career for personal reasons or to explore other options and Not lose eligibility. Drakeley for example should have three years eligibility remaining after this year.
  • WEEK 8: AGGIES @ THUNDERBIRDS
Re redshirt the rule basically is you’ve got five years to play four. So if a player in any class plays less than four games it doesn’t count as one of the four. But your eligibility expires in five calendar years, unless you’re in the military or on mission or some other exemption or hardship. In other words redshirt only once.
  • WEEK 8: AGGIES @ THUNDERBIRDS
Only watched the first half, perhaps fortunately.
Doesn’t worry me that they got closer in second half, with our current running back lack of depth we’re pretty poor at running the ball against a team that is not giving it to us.
The running game in the first half made them pay when they tried to play with three down linemen, and that’s a plus.
  • WEEK 8: AGGIES @ THUNDERBIRDS
Which wide receivers are banged up? If anyone can add some info it would be great. Haven’t seen Kraft for a few games, but he’s still on the game notes depth chart. Crawford was out last game and not on this games depth chart. Harrell hasn’t had a big game for a while, but I think he’s been playing. Ornelas might have been injured last game took a big hit against ND as well. We’ll be ok if we have Harrell, Vaughan and Babb. We’ve got some other great recruits from this years class as well but they may not have much experience. What’s the story with our transfer from Nevada?
  • WEEK 8: AGGIES @ THUNDERBIRDS
Amazing that in a press conference about an upcoming game, we learn nothing about either team.
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
JC transfers are another area where UC has higher requirements. Only a subset of junior college coursework is transferable to a UC.Only courses that have a UC equivalent are transferable. Unless the student plans from the start to transfer to UC he may find that he loses credit for much of his JC work. Not as true of of transferring to a state college, where pretty much any course that’s not purely recreational will count.
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
Note that the required courses are college prep, so if perchance someone took a single English class that was “remedial” in his four years, he wouldn’t qualify.
All it takes is a bad counselor.
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
If as has been reported our admission standards are more rigorous than Cal or UCLA due to campus policies, I don’t think Cal Poly should be lumped in with us. I haven’t followed admission requirements of late but UCs used to require specific high school course work which state colleges do not. If we require football recruits to meet standard admission criteria, and don’t waive those requirements then even students with good GPAs might not be in our pool
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
I suspect the poll voters don’t analyze the flow of the games, just the score.
Bottom line is we don’t have a quality win, while other teams do. Beating Cal Poly Lehigh and San Diego doesn’t make much of a statement.
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
I have to think we are but need to win remaining games. Eight wins should get us into the playoffs; I think that would be a sure thing. If we do that we’ll have some quality wins, and a high ranking.
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
Great game from a lot of the young guys.
Lance Babb II adds a new dimension as a threat after the catch. Love our wide receivers even without Kraft and Crawford.
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
Yeah right, I’m sure the QB transition is Eastern’s problem.
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ North Dakota
Especially since they’re unlikely to get the cream of the crop.
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
We were pretty much down to Thomas and Gilliam after last year, added one NLI signee, Figuroa. We converted a wide receiver, he’s our #3 running back. Everyone behind Thomas and Gilliam is unproven and apparently the coaches are not ready to give them a try. It’s not how many are on the roster it’s more a question of how many are useable this season.
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
I think that’s right. We are too thin at running back, who knows how beat up Gilliam is, carrying most the load. I think not having more running backs we have confidence in leads to not calling run plays. Teams need to practice the skills to be good at them; if you don’t run much you’re not good at it when you need it.
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
I think it would be possible to continue the journey, but with a little more sense of urgency. I hope he’s having some blame with his staff, they’re letting him down. That was a pivotal game for the season, and we didn’t seem to be prepared first half.
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ North Dakota
Defense has to get the ball back.
In ND game one turnover, only made them punt three times, and stopped them once on fourth down. That’s five total stops entire game.
