• 71st Causeway Classic: UC Davis vs. Sac State
Easily solved if Dr. Wood and AD Orr realize the Pac-12 dream isn't happening right now.

    - Talk to the BSC about re-admission
    - Cancel Cal Expo nonsensical plans
    - Phased plan to rebuild the current, ON-campus stadium

Marion can recruit, and he's smart enough to tweek his offense and decision making.

NDSU - ugh! Well, two weeks to get rested and pack the Toom!!

Please, bring out the old ag machine w whistle!
  • 2025 FCS Playoffs
So we get rest, possible to get anyone else back from injury??

And our opponents have a long flight.

When we win, who is our likely quarterfinal opponent?

  • 71st Causeway Classic: UC Davis vs. Sac State
The JV team beat Sac. Ha! Their AD, University PR, or both, got Dr. Wood to stop the inappropriate remarks.

Leaving the BSC is so odd, all the dice on the Pac 12? Sounds like his wheeler dealer brother had major influence. They should have stayed put, and improved the on-campus stadium unless T Gould gave them an invite. Really bad timing w campus and Federal finances.

I feel bad for the Sac community, people like Coach Mattos. Locals I knew are always cordial and asking how the Aggies were doing.

You wrote: "Acia was a very unsung hero in Vargas’ absence (an NFL talent). ..."

Do you see Vargas as a LL type runner? Have you heard knowledgeable Aggies share your opinion?

He's still young, not sure about breakaway speed. Does he have FBS power?
  • 2025 FCS Playoff Prognostication
    Yes. We'll host round one.

I've now read two new analysis, both which have North Dakota missing the playoffs. I found this prediction interesting:

Opta Analyst: "Illinois State at No. 14 seed UC Davis, winner at No. 3 seed Lehigh"

I'd be very happy to skip the Montanas as long as possible.

But weren't most up the gut? No concept of running every other one out of bounds. I thought we might have left them too much time.

    Southern Illinois = Illinois State?

Most of these playoff teams are in the south, Midwest, or east coast.
  • 2025 FCS Playoff Prognostication
From my rookie review, if geography is used ... I would say we're visited by South Dakota State. Or Lamar?

Funny, AI had some nice regional FCS matchups, and then paired us with ... St. Thomas of Florida. Ha! AI flub.
  • 71st Causeway Classic: UC Davis vs. Sac State
If I recall, didn't he go for it on 4th down early, and give us great field position on our first series? Struck me as a highly risky, an unneeded loss of field position.
  • 2025 FCS Playoff Prognostication
Massey Eatings SOS, if I'm reading it right. Random teams.

    North Dakota 4
    South Dakota 9
    UC Davis 10
    Abilene Christian 11
    Idaho State 13
    South Dakota State 19
    NDSU 23
    Montana 35
    SF Austin 63
    Mercer 79
    Harvard 89
    Lehigh 97

I prefer not to face ACU.

  • 2025 FCS Playoff Prognostication
I'll update with other possible regional opponents. Feel free to chime in. I roughly listed them from higher to lower rankings.

Eight teams - #1 through #8 - get a bye. Four teams above us lost, so some should drop. Let's say we're rated #12. We might play...

    More Likely

Abilene Christian is 8-4, was #17. Two FBS losses, tough SOS. Distance 1500 miles.

Lamar was #19, lost, and is 8-4. Ended the season losing 3 of 4. Limps in? Texas, 2000 miles away.

Jackson State, 9-2, was #20, HBCU. Distance 2200 miles.

Southeastern Louisiana is 9-3, was #21. Distance 2200 miles.

*** South Dakota State now 8-4, was ranked #22. Lost four in a row before beating North Dakota today in OT. Distance: 1500 miles.

*** Southern Illinois was #24, now 7-5. Won some big games. Distance: 1800 miles.

    Unlikely - Distance

Youngstown State is 8-4, was ranked #18, tough, but beatable? Distance: 2400 miles.

New Hampshire was #25, won today, 8-4, I don't know anything about them but their schedule looks lite, Ivys and such. 3,000 miles away.

    Unlikely - Repeat Games

NAU 7-5, was #23 (lost), we beat them by 20.

Sac State, 7-5, would be a repeat.

Southern Utah, 7-5, would be a repeat.

    My Guess?

I would say we're visited by South Dakota State, 1500 miles away. I want nothing to do w ACU.
  • 71st Causeway Classic: UC Davis vs. Sac State
How quickly do talented Sac players start entering the portal w only 3 games booked for next year and no league affiliation? How long can AD Orr keep them?
  • 2025 FCS Playoff Prognostication
So throwing some guesses out there. Eight teams get a bye, not us. Four teams above us lost, so some should drop. Let's say we're rated #10 or #12. We might play...

    Unlikely

Monmouth (9-3), formerly #12, beat ranked Villanova 51-33, Towson, Stony Brook, lost to New Hampshire.

North Dakota is 7-5, just lost to SD State, was #13, will drop.; lost to Montana 24-23, best several ranked teams, then lost to South Dakota (26-21), NDSU (15-10), and SDSU in OT (34-31). Sound dangerous.

Stephen F. Austin (was #14) is 10-2, also sounds dangerous. 10-1 vs FCS.

    More likely?

Youngstown State is 8-4, was ranked #18, tough, but beatable? Distance: 2400 miles.

Lamar was #19, lost, and is 8-4. Ended the season losing 3 of 4. Limps in? Texas, 2000 miles away.

Jackson State, 9-2, was #20, HBCU.

NAU 7-5, was #23 (lost), we beat them by 20. Would be a repeat.

New Hampshire was #25, won today, 8-4, I don't know anything about them but their schedule looks lite, Ivys and such. 3,000 miles away.

No pro here, but if we're hosting lower-ranked teams, the lower teams listed here are more likely. NCAA attempts to play regional games, and not have rematches.

How soon does Sac start bleeding players w only three games on the schedule and no new league affiliation?
  • 71st Causeway Classic: UC Davis vs. Sac State
Kai Acai averaged 5.3 YPC, helped by his 15 yard run. He seemed to do well, no obvious miscues. CP staying home, only 3 carries.

The defense had 5 TFL, and 1 Sack.

    Rutchena 12 tackles, 10 solo.
    Riddick 11, 9 solo.
    Sievers 11, 11 solo. Sophmore
    Stanley 8, 7 solo.
Few 6, 6 solo, 2 TFL. True Freshman.
    Batson 5, 4 solo.
    Psyk 5, 5 solo, 1 TFL, 1 Sack.
    Richardson 3, 3 solo. INT

So the #8, 11, 12, and 13 teams ranked above us lose. How far do we move up?

    Are we #10?
  • 2025 FCS Playoff Prognostication
    The Upsets

    Paper tiger #8 Harvard loses 45 - 38.

Southern Illinois 37, No. 11 Illinois State 7.

    UAlbany 31, No. 12 Monmouth 24

South Dakota State 34, No. 13 North Dakota 31 (OT)

    So the #8, 11, 12, and 13 teams lose.

Several teams below us, lost. So we were ranked #15. How far do we move up?
