Everyone chill out, we will both be FBS soon. We just both have stadium work to do over next 5 years...

MAC TEAMS PLAY ONE TUESDAY NIGHT GAME PER YEAR! And it'll only be at home every other year. And on ESPN.

It's all about a foot in the door at this point. Before a 5 or 10 year moratorium on new FBS schools hits.

We were 9th in FCS attendance last year without hosting the Causeway. Our 2025 numbers would place us 6th in the MAC. Getting a 2 for 1 with regional FBS opponents will be possible with FBS status. SJSU, Fresno, and San Diego State will fill the stadium more than Cal Poly or any other BSC school, besides maybe Davis.

Yes, $5M to jump to FBS, and $10M to MAC (to be paid out over 5 years, I believe). No conference money from TV for first two years. I believe that's what's on the table. Thought Friday would be possibility of announcement. But everyone I talk to expects an NDSU style leak fest over the weekend, then an official announcement next week.

MAC teams make $800k-$1M/year in media rights deals for football only. Big Sky teams are getting in the 10s of thousands per year right now.

    It's done. SAC to MAC.

The only thing stopping them from FBS status is the invite. It's technically still possible for the MAC to invite SAC for 7/1/26. It becomes less and less likely by the day though. UNA announced an OOC game with SAC late in the day yesterday.

Sac is anxiously waiting for the MAC right now. MAC is interested in SAC as football-only member to add a new time zone to their nationally televised games. There is a 12-game FCS/FBS schedule in the hopper if it doesn't pan out, but SAC needs an answer soon because they will have to buy out couple FCS games if they move to the MAC effective 7/1/26.

Booster rumors indicate MAC is also in discussions with Illinois State, which doesn't necessarily rule out SAC too. I was told expect to hear Sac to MAC or full mixed schedule executed in the next couple weeks, but a reliable poster told me in a DM that it was a longer timeline than that. Not sure how much longer SAC can wait...

The schedule is 12 games. It's done. It's not announced because different conferences announcing schedules at different times. It is not a "FBS schedule" as promised.

That specific CSUS number isn't known (or published). The CSU cut 1,430 course offeringssystem-wide in 24-25.

Earlier this year, Dr. Wood announced restoration of 275 new sections for 25-26 budget, plus these 150 new sections mid-year for Spring semester. I would think that 425 new class sections in 25-26 exceeds SAC's portion of the original 1,430 cut in 24-25.

President Luke Wood’s messages to students, faculty, and staff.

150+ new sections being added for spring

November 20, 2025 - We are pleased to share that thanks to the tireless advocacy of campus leaders, the Chancellor’s Office has recognized Sacramento State's dedicated efforts to increase enrollment and improve retention. They have acknowledged our persistent requests for additional support to help us navigate the fiscal challenges that this complex enrollment situation has created.

To universities that successfully increased enrollment or invested in student retention, the Chancellor’s Office has provided a one-time allocation to campuses that exceeded their 2024–25 enrollment goals and funded levels. Sacramento State has met that mark and will be receiving this allocation.

In light of this recognition, I am excited to share that we will be adding 157 new course sections to the Spring schedule, opening up 4,199 seats for students. We are able to create this expansion because of the faculty, staff, and academic departments that have demonstrated significant commitment to supporting student success and timely graduation.

To our faculty and staff, thank you for all that you do for our students.
