I have lots of thoughts on this and did a real deep dive on Sac leadership and financial condition. They seem to think they can attract out of state tuition payers with this move. Not a snowball's chance in hell that brand awareness pays off the costs to the school of moving to the MAC.. Wouldn't be surprised if we see SacSt relegated back to the FCS as a cost saving measure in 5-10 years. Also, I was under the impression their new stadium/FBS entry funding was contingent on a PAC12 invite?? Did that change under the radar? Lots of things not adding up. Don't be surprised if SacSt is asking tax payers to foot the bill here soon. Doesn't seem to be popular amongst the student base who care at all about academics either.

The UCLA game, assuming it holds, is going to be mighty interesting. Lots of Ags in the area. I know a lot who'd go.

I think it's pretty standard fare to be tight-lipped with these types of things. NDSU's AD was never publicly open (just alot of external speculation) about their MWC ambitions until **boom** it happened. Keeping cards close to chest also invites interest from other conferences. You better believe the PAC will come sniffing around if their biggest competitor on the West Coast expresses interest. If Rocko said "all in on MWC" it closes doors to potential opportunities for when the timing is right, is all I'm saying

Massive difference. I wonder what even constitutes a "scholarship" anymore. Could I just pay a player the NIL dollar equivalent of a tuition, lodging, etc and circumvent the "scholarship" limit?

I'd be very curious to see the damage UCD could do with FBS quantity of scholarships...

Really good point. Get bball ducks in a row before taking on another major (and costly) athletics project. In a way, I could see bball being a test case to help determine whether or not the economics of a conference upgrade are really worth it.

Very good points. I think it's worth keeping in mind that Rocko DeLuca was a part of UMASS transition from FCS to FBS, so he's seen what works (or rather what doesn't) to make that leap successfully..

As much as it feels so, I don't think this signals the closing of an FBS window for Davis. If I were the MW or the future Pac12, I'd be much more interested in financially stable programs that have shown the ability to grow organically - not forcibly, like you know who. What I'm most curious about now is the home-home series with NDSU we inked somewhat recently...

At this point, I'm not entirely convinced they're recruiting better than any other Big Sky program. They had a highly touted recruiting class last year too, right? Not sure how many more off-seasons I'll buy it..

It's crazy to me that you have 10m laying around (allegedly?) and your first thought is "yeah lets use that to bribe an FBS conference to let us in" versus, you know, investing in infrastructure to make Sac State FB a program worthy of an FBS invite.
