I feel like "letters of intent" and "commitments" mean nothing in recruiting with all of this. Should be a two way commitment vs. the school bearing all of the risk to pay for a worthless chunk of someone's education, should they decide to leave before a degree. FCS schools without some sort of redeeming qualities like a great degree or Dakota/Montana quality football are so hosed.

Bigger schools get the injury bug too, but they have ~20% more scholarships and therefore more depth, so it isn't as dramatic.

These injury-ridden campaigns tend to happen every 5-10 yrs across all contact sports. I wouldn't read too much into it. The last I can recall was under Gould as well and that was roughly 10 yrs ago.

I believe both Porter and Rex filed appeal for medical redshirt. Original application was denied due to the NCAA considering the Mercer game a "game played" against their eligibility threshold of >30% of games played. Appeal makes the claim that Mercer "does not count" statistically therefore shouldn't also count against the players' eligibility threshold. Would be interesting to hear if anyone on Mercer is in the same boat..

Injuries have this negative flywheel effect where injuries beget more injuries because those who can stay healthy, have to shoulder more of the load as the season goes. This is more true the earlier in the season those injuries occur - and unfortunately the injury bug came early this year.

I totally trust the UCD staff, but I have noticed that NDSU, SDSU and MSU mix in designed QB run really effectively.
