  • Week 1: UC Davis @ Idaho
We look like a team that didn’t have a lot of full practices. Not tackling well, slow to react. But still down only 3.

We’re gonna have to let hunter throw or they will continue to pack the line.

Gotta get off the field on third. Getting killed on the QB scrambles after pressure. And he’s not fast
  • WBB: March 5/6 UC Davis (9-1, 8-0 Big West) at Hawai'i (7-6, 6-5 Big West)
Don’t discount the effect of the late start. Second half tip-off was around 10 PM. Hopefully acclimated tonight

What channel on Pluto? The big Sky has women’s soccer

I couldn’t watch so had to follow via live stats. Koehler took the game tying 3? By design or desperation?

I had sound from the get go; sounds like this isn’t a great matchup for us. Lot of speed and length , and they are playing a clean game. Down 7 at the break. Not looking great for us. Hope I’m wrong

By sound, I meant radio. Not watching

I was looking at the big west boards and the moderator lays out all seeding scenarios (he’s a better man than I). We’ll be a top 4 seed if we win at least 1 game. Where we end depends on the other top teams. That’s all dependent on all games playing out.

It would have been an advantage to start at 1, or 11 Hawaiian time. Maybe the big west has an agreement with UH not to start too early

I think if you use the link from the schedule it will take you directly there. Pluto isn’t the easiest to navigate. Drives me nuts you can’t look ahead more than a few hours

tomorrow we’ll have Scott Marsh with football at 11, followed by Scott Marsh with basketball at 4

I’ve seen 4 on the program email that came out this week

I had heard Hastings and Rodrigues were the two front runners but that was coming out of last spring (which seems like years ago)

Have you looked at flights to Tulsa? Another challenging place to get to!

I’m leaning to the ‘means nothing’ side. I like how the ‘or’ lists are all alphabetical. Jim Zorn would never have started at QB for us!
  • No fan attendance-how are you holding up ?
Fall was tough because the games (home and a few away) and festivities have been so ingrained in our routine for 15 or so years. The spring league? I haven’t gotten into the groove yet so not missing it yet. Maybe after watching Saturday it will seem more real. For now, it has a XFL feel.

I am missing the basketball experience. After I retired, I was planning on coming up for almost all home games ( no worries about getting up early after a long midweek drive home). Not having in person has made it a little harder to get a strong connection with the players. That month long hiatus of course played a big part.

The final game last year we lost on a 3 at the buzzer against really good D was a heartbreaker

The formula for UC pension has 3 components. Average salary over last 3 years, number of years and an age factor. The age factor changed several years back but the way mine was (I’m old) is that it varied linearly from 1-2.5% dependent on a retirement age of 50-60. So, 2.5% is cap if you take retirement at or after 60. I think the new formula starts at 55 and caps at 65.

So, for example 20 years at age 60 would be a multiplier of 20x2.5=50% of the average salary.

If they can opt out of the pension and get money out into a 401k (403b for UC) that’s probably a better bet.

Extra years of credit is a great incentive!

What’s the format? I would think 4 bottom seeds ‘play in’ to set up an 8 team tourney? I don’t recall seeing the plan.

I used to like the old format where top two seeds byed into the quarters, 3-4 got one bye. Gave the regular season more emphasis
