+1. Participation logs aren't infallible... one game showed DE Cade Peacock playing while we believe he is redshirting and didn't play this year. (We graduate 5 on the D line?)

I believe there was an error in the notation that he played in one mid-year game. I saw Facey in a boot, and Tehran in visible pain, walking off the field post Montana game (home). I don't recall him ever playing after that.

Our backups then all played, briefly. I heard rumors Niko Harris also had an injury after his one stint.

It might have been nice to have our huge QB turned LB from a Gould recruiting class to play FB or QB in short yardage situations. (Name escapes me.)

FWIW, I believe Tehran Thomas' last game was Montana. I've heard it was a painful rib injury. He had over 6 YPC vs Montana. Postgame, I saw Facey (RB) in a boot. Not sure if TT qualifies for a medical redshirt w playing time in 5 games.

Troy Spencer (RB) then got PT, did well, and then we didn't see him, so likely injured.
  • Honest question: What kind of school are we?
Of you win, consistently ... maybe the fans show up, if not a holiday or finals or cold.

Stanford (4-7) #123 in rushing offense out of 130 teams.

Bad problem w / losing? Do you mean he handled losing poorly?
  • CAUSEWAY 2019
I agree. But I believe we were around .500 vs the UOPs and Santa Clara's of the world.

    Interesting analysis.

To be fair to the coaches and challenges, we know a few O linemen were banged up. Injuries devastated RBs, which means 2 back and power back options are out. JM not mobile, and 2 playmakers out. Not sure why we didn't go more ball control / west coast passing.

Sac announcers even called our play calling predictable. Gilliam run on 1st down (2.8 yds per carry), toss it up on 2nd (?), then face 3rd and long.... not sure why we didn't throw to our TE more often.

Next year we're at Nevada (7-4), San Jose (4-7, QB Josh Love graduates), and Weber State.

    YES. Why no challenge???

It seems like special teams and defense really helped put points on the board this year.

    - ball inside the Cal 20 on the opening drive
    - Eason pick 6
    - Frazier pick 6 yesterday

Will their QB return? Listed as a Junior ... but in grad school ... redshirted at UNLV 1 year, played another ... we'll see what they do when he's gone.

    Bob Dunning, Davis Enterprise

"Hawkins had high praise for his team’s season-long effort, and noted that the difference between this season and last year’s championship and playoff runs were a “few details” that need to be addressed.

“We played hard and we played well, but this is a great league and you’d better be really good in every game or you’re not going to win the championship.”

(Our offense only scored 10 points.)

Look at the TOP and rushing yards. And our 233 passing yards are deceptive bc we got 70-75 yds on one play. Gilliam averaged only 2.8 yards per carry.

My nomination for Quote of the Year.

BlueGoldAg: "The writing was on the wall when we were lucky to beat San Diego and the exclamation point was added when we didn't show up to play against Montana."

At that point Hawkins or somebody has to ring the siren. Maybe I'm wrong or unorthodox, but I would have found a way to get Rodriquez athleticism in as a RB, QB, somewhere. Was it Weber who brought in a 3rd string QB for a quick running play?

A high scoring offense repeatedly scoring under 20 with a top QB is a puzzle that needs an answer.

Does anyone here have any idea of the QB pecking order or standouts?

"This team lacks something. It's hard to figure out what, but they don't have it." Moxie?

Our Defense looked solid, can't blame them for 3-and-outs on offense. Special teams appeared A+.

Youth & injuries play a big role. Losing our top 2 playmaking LBs was a blow, and they adjusted. Losing two top WRs seemed to stunt our offense, along with losing our downhill RB (ribs I believe). No FB on the roster, and new RBs reportedly wiped out by injuries.

The downfield OL hold? A freshman. Probably not a mistake he'll make as an upperclassman. The negated interception? Ugh.

[Edit] You have a quick trigger finger on proven coaches. I would emphasize the need for a pass rush, and see if we could steal a JC pass rush threat. Play calling needs work, that again circles back to young inexperienced players.

    Go Ags!

I agree, announcers complimented our defense several times.

We were shutout in the 2nd half. Only 3 receivers caught balls, 2 with more than 1 catch. No Harrell today. Should Vaughn have caught that key pass? Huge. Offensive line looked solid. Maier helped bring our program back, but I believe lack of mobility and arm strength didn't help. We should be deep next year at WR.

You can't win in the Big Sky scoring under 20 a game no matter how strong your defense.
  • CAUSEWAY 2019
    Yes.

We don't like to run JM.
  • CAUSEWAY 2019
Big game for Perryman ... he was the special teams player who flipped the ball back on the goal line.

    Frazier interception legit!
  • CAUSEWAY 2019
WHY DIDN'T WE CHALLENGE IT!!!??? Huge play.

    Their QB very mobile.

Announcer ... "Davis predictable ... Gilliam run on 1st down, pass to Vaughn on 2nd down ..."
