Bob Dunning has a new article on the Cal Aggie Band. It appears there is doublespeak going on, very strange.

"Trying to connect the dots through a series of email exchanges, I learned from one vice chancellor that “The new university-sponsored band will continue the CAMB’s (Cal Aggie Marching Band) mission of supporting our athletes, beginning with a game at the end of September.” "

"...However, when I inquired a bit further up the food chain, I was told in no uncertain terms that this particular vice chancellor “is not with Student Affairs,” which is apparently in charge of resolving this ongoing saga. Why the vice chancellor was so specific and so direct about the band playing at the Montana game remains a mystery.

"The new official word became: “The band will not perform while the search continues for a musical director.” "

"...“We also gave the students the opportunity to play some of their approved songs with staff supervision.”

"Approved songs? With staff supervision? Mother may I?

“The only element that is on hold at the moment are public performances.” "

"...I think they’ll be called the UC Davis Marching Music Makers, but what do I know?

“We are currently without a music director and all public performances have been put on hold until the position has been filled.”

More money wasted ... all because they refuse to use one common sense Solutions?

- have an interim director from the Music Dept.
- use an interim director from Campus Rec
- have an outside 3rd party serve as interim director

They created the problem by being unable to hire a director in time.

And maybe qualified directors want go work in a Music Department, not Campus Rec?

Shift your mindset to that of a solution that allows music and support for your athletes and important school spirit. Wonder if this could be more expeditiously resolved if the teams refused to compete without their Aggie Band-Uh?"

"The band has thus far complied with every change arranged to and agreed upon by Student Affairs and Campus Rec. We were informed that the band, in doing so, would be able to continue and play under their set parameters. Now, as an oversight body, they will not let us perform due to the lack of oversight. This reeks of unfairness in the face of our patience and compliance, and we hope the University will understand our position and will create a solution that allows us to do what they have promised to let us do."

Will we have the Davis High Band?

The Bison are really good! Just maybe not one of their completely dominant teams.

I'll have to look at the numbers. Jury out whether we have the same QB rush. Unfortunately, INTs and penalties count. Just as we can play the 'what if' game, Bison fans are noting their uncharacteristic WR drops, easy passes muffed and move away from their dominant run game.

If we're fortunate, maybe we get a Mulligan in Frisco?

Our TD at Berkeley was set up with a TO in the red zone.

And this may be an 'off' year for NDSU ... hit big with graduation and a RFrosh QB.

I was surprised the Bison didn't have a sellout.

Good news: one Bison fan said the top performing group on the field was the Aggie O line. Also big props to our kicking game.

The Future: appreciate our D line now, because we have FOUR seniors this year. I'm guessing Cade Peacock is a redshirt. We should be deep at DB and LB.
