  • RIP Jason Hairston
    I understand.

But did we let a student-athlete continue playing after 2 disks in his neck were broken? Did we x-ray, or not?
  • RIP Jason Hairston
Very sad. First Wise, then this. So successful in all ventures of his life.

Can we bring the heat again? Win the turnover game?
  • RIP Jason Hairston
San Jose Mercury: "I played linebacker, and the way I played the game, I led with my head,” he said in a 2016 interview, according to the Daily Mail. “I played the way they tell us not to play now. I have all the symptoms of CTE.” In addition, according to his bio on KUIU’s website, Hairston sustained a severe neck injury during his junior season of college, “hard enough to break my C5 and C6 vertebrae, each in seven different places.” Hairston cited ongoing neck issues as the reason he retired from football.

This raises questions for our program.

Were the broken vertebrae diagnosed? If yes, why did we let him continue to play; if no, how did we miss it?

Why did we allow a player to lead with his head when tackling?

    Hey brother, Trust.

Keep an eye out for Stanford assistant coaches this Saturday.
  • Week 2: San Diego @ UC Davis
Their fans were worried whether they would beat us soundly, or not.
  • Week 2: San Diego @ UC Davis
We had 302 yds in the 1st Quarter!

I played a little possum on their board, said 'we' (Spartans) would beat them by 4-5 TDs.

Maybe Brennan also erred by keeping starters out of his scrimmages.

  • Week 2: San Diego @ UC Davis
3rd QB was doing much better, my guess is they would have done much better w him. And their propensity for TOs.

Good news was we got sacks from Parenteau, Cam Newton, and a 3rd player.

FG team needs something. Glad the kids were happy, but I'm not one for celebrating at half time. We almost blew a game that way last year!

Catch the post game locker room video? Very happy.
  • Week 2: San Diego @ UC Davis
Hawkins immediately recognized we needed a QB, and they locked one down. Gould was handcuffed with Wright and Lacy. Hawk seems to prefer being overloaded at QB, I wish Biggs did the same, unless we think Maier was luck.

But is our defense really better?
  • Week 2: San Diego @ UC Davis
Gould got us Joshua Kelley and Manzanares, Doss, Olave, Duncan and others. But his game plans were predictable, not fun, he would not go for the victory (SLO punt), and he lost the team. We had an exodus of top defensive talent.
  • First Coaches Show and Sudwerk Gunrock Lager
Last year they would notify us a different way each week, or not at all.
  • Week 2: San Diego @ UC Davis
I sent in a question early 2 times, one time it was half asked, late, the other ignored. They seem to focus on the easy star players... 1 question I had, if I recall, was about non-star 5'9" DB Erron Duncan. Had 8 tackles against SD State as a redshirt freshman. Hawk said his numbers (physical, testing?) were off the charts.
  • Week 2: San Diego @ UC Davis
Like the local writers, homers. I get part of it. I believe Hawk likes to keep a tight lid, understandable. There was an article on the defensive unit that appeared to be the first of several, some position changes were revealed, and then the team review stopped.

  • Week 2: San Diego @ UC Davis
NCAA team stats, which mean little now with limited action, has our offense #1 and defense #20 out of about 33.
