  • @ Mercer to Open 2025

At least this should be an easier start than Randy Wright had at Cal. At the lunch Plough basically said what Dr. Mike wrote above. And listening to him, one thing I’m confident on, we won’t get out coached. Who’s going to control the clock Saturday?
  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
If Sac actually makes it to FBS, I see us playing them every 2-3 years at their place with a $450,000 pay out to the Ags. Any other scenario doesn’t make sense to me.
  • @ Mercer to Open 2025

“ Plough said (I think) we could take something like 70 players. We’re going out there Thursday to acclimate as best they can.”
He told us the same number today at the lunch.

Lunch with the coach today. Maybe he’ll spill the beans!

“ How do our QBs look? I'm expecting more mobility, and an ocassional crossed wire.”

Dr. Mike may chime in but I thought both Pinnick and Harper looked tremendous. Pinnick might have the quicker release. Both are very mobile, but Pinnick might get the edge on that metric. Its a total toss up from my observations, but if longevity and commitment to the program means anything, I’m rooting for Harper. That entire QB room is stacked with studs.

BTW, I’m anticipating a great showing from our RBs. With a solid O line, each guy brings something a little different than the others. Vargas is a bruiser with power and speed. Fischer looks like he’s got good hands for the short/baseball pass. Anxious to see how this all plays out.

Lunch with coach next Wednesday. Maybe he’ll have an announcement.

“ I would think that your parents would have told you that making negative comments on an otherwise very uplifting human story means that you were being a bad person and should not do it.”

How dare you make any comment about my parents. You are either losing it or need a hobby.

So how is it that you thought you had a degree but didn’t? As i recall there was paperwork to fill out to walk.
  • New Uniforms
Don’t mean to be a Debbie Downer but this light blue without gold doesn’t turn me on.
  • Looking to next season: what games away or home are you most likely to attend?
I’ll miss SUU, (wife scheduled a trip to Europe on that date), otherwise I’ll be at all the home games. I will probably add at least 2 of the away games and Frisco :).

Well, 2 1,000 yard receivers would be nice but with a limiting number of plays, we wouldn’t have the touches to have a decent running game with those kind of numbers. I do think we’re going to see a wide open offense this year with more deep passes than we’ve had, but i expect the offense to be more balanced.
  • Fresno Sate joins SF State, Sonoma State, and others in cutting athletic support

“ But there is a moral issue with pushing 1000s of students into more debt in order to pay six figure “salaries” to athletes already getting a free ride.”
Amen. And a high percent of the students are taking out student loans to pay their way which compounds the cost. What a mess.

“ I guess some folks here will need a drink or something as Coach Plough will play two QBs...”
Ha, I’ll need one. Plough told me last year if you are playing two Qbs you don’t have a qb. Did you hear this from someone in athletics?
  • Sacramento Kings star Mike Bibby to become Sacramento State's men's basketball coach

DrMike is not saying the kid doesn’t deserve a second chance. Nothing is stopping him from getting an education and improving himself. But building a team around felons and kids with disciplinary issues such as Sac is doing in their football program is not what many of us want to support.

  • Sacramento Kings star Mike Bibby to become Sacramento State's men's basketball coach
Shaqir’s stats are not very impressive, 6.7 points per game last year which is his high. 3.4 rebounds per game. He looks to me to be more of a name rather than an impact player.

Well, even of its just a figure head position, it will really help their recruiting.

There are positional rooms for all of the parts. RBs, QBs, etc. i’m not sure how many different rooms are designated for the defense. But its really enlightening to sit in and observe the details that they go over breaking down various scenarios and appropriate responses.

Plough has mentioned that the team is mainly responsible for picking the QB, mainly by who they support as the leader. If its close, I’d like to see Harper get the nod mainly bc of his hard work and dedication to the program.
