I look forward to hearing your observations about the team. I think it's probably going to take some time before this team gels together given that the twins and Morgan are gone now.

Quotes from the Davis Enterprise article:

“They’re a big, strong, fast, physical, well-coached team and you have to give them credit for how they played,” said Aggie coach Dan Hawkins of Weber State. “They do enough things to throw you off-balance a little bit, plus we had so few plays in the first half that we didn’t really have many chances to get things going.”

Said Weber State coach Jay Hill, whose team is well on its way to a third straight championship, “We expected a very good team and they were. We put pressure on them early, but they hung in there. When it looked like we were going to pull away, we never could. That’s the sign of a very well-coached team. That was a team that had all of our focus and attention because of how good they are and how good they’ve been. But we executed.”

Added Hill, “I think we have the three best defensive linemen — defensive ends Adam Rodriquez and Jonah Williams and tackle Jared Schiess — in the conference. Those guys are big-time players. When our coverage is where it needs to be, like it was today, we’ve got a chance to give quarterbacks fits, and we did. For us to come here and play the way we did was huge.”

“I’ve never been prouder of these guys,” he said. “They battled and they stayed in it and they kept competing. People think Aggie Pride is all about winning. It’s not. It’s about how you live your life. Tonight we showed Aggie Pride.”

You are absolutely right about giving WSU a lot of credit for shutting down the Aggie offense the way they did. We have some talented weapons on offense and Weber slammed the door shut on us. They had an outstanding game plan and we were unable to adjust and respond to it.

I think the game was so lopsided mainly because of their outstanding game plan and execution and a combination of us not being able to execute anything that was disruptive at all to their defense. Whether that was poor execution on our part or a poor game plan by our coaches or something of both, I don't know, but they made our offense look awful.

I don't ever remember seeing an Aggie offense so thoroughly dominated by an FCS team. Hats off to WSU. They are proof positive that an explosive offense is not the only way to be a Top 5 FCS team.

This was the first time I've been able to attend an Aggie game. Wow...can't believe how much we've fallen off from last year. This was one of the most anemic, ineffective offensive performances I've ever seen from an Aggie team so, obviously, our game plan wasn't very good either.

One thing that stood out was that we really don't have the "big play" playmakers we had last year like Moe on defense and Doss on offense. We also don't seem to have the ability to stretch the field and throw deep either. Our receivers weren't getting separation and the majority of our passes were short and rarely even 10-15 yard throws.

We're playing for pride now that the playoffs are gone. I hope the team doesn't just fold and end up with a losing record. I'm dreading the Sac State game from what I saw tonight from the Aggies. It's been a disappointing season that's for sure..

The Aggies have been picked to finish 8th in the Big West Media Poll but someone gave us a first place vote also. Talk about an outlier vote...!

By the slightest of margins, UC Irvine edged UC Santa Barbara as the media favorite in the quest for the 2019-20 Big West men's basketball regular season title.

The 31-member media panel split their first place votes among UCI and UCSB. UCI prevailed with 258 points and 15 first place votes. UCSB collected 256 points and 15 first place nods of its own. CSUN was a popular third place pick and had 202 points. The middle of the pack included Hawai‘i in fourth place with 155 points, Cal State Fullerton in fifth with 152 and Long Beach State in sixth with 118. The remainder of the poll included UC Riverside (107), UC Davis (104) and Cal Poly (43). UC Davis grabbed the remaining first place vote.

There isn't any noticeable smoke this morning in the Land Park area of Sacramento...not sure about Davis though.
