Yes, for collegiate 400m that is slow. Not all track times equate to football. Recruiters want to see 100m/200m times and film is the ultimate indicator. I've seen kids with slow track times because they were in the wrong events start training for combines and evaluations get down into the 4.5-4.4 range for the 40

I think the X factor in that game is Idaho's coaching staff. X factor as in I don't think they're very good. I think Poly's staff is better by a wide margin, but I felt like the Idaho personnel was better than CP. We shall see, a bit of ignorance in my bold prediction.

Club banquet room will likely be used at the President's and AD's discretion, maybe host recruiting events during the game, donor events, boring stuff like that. I'll be in the food court eating corn dogs and sipping Mexican-style lagers between quarters.

New name for this thread: Palm Tree Recovery Group. Man, you guys have had a rough go with those things. I'm not exactly a fan; my neighbor has one that we have to clean up after all the time and some varieties sprout up in the corners of my property occasionally. Have not experienced the Davis rat drop though like some of you, that's nasty. I've seen alley rats in Davis several times, but now I'm going to be careful if I walk under a palm tree. Dried palm fronds burn well if you're ever looking for a bonfire, but with your luck, a pack of rats will explode after you light the damn thing!

With at least two votes against, here's a viable, evergreen option that might work. Meet Thuja plicata x standishii, aka Thuja Green Giant, a vigorous, fast-growing evergreen hybrid widely used for privacy screens and windbreaks. It features soft, rich green foliage year-round, grows 3 to 5 feet per year, and matures to a height of 40 to 60 feet. The Red Barn Nursery there in Davis might carry them. We can get a bunch planted down on the scoreboard end, they'll look Redwood-like, and we can chant "BEAT LA" during the break between the 1st and 2nd quarters :rofl:

Everything you said about the palm family is spot-on. Little known fact: exactly zero species of palm tree is native to California. All imported from elsewhere, but they are easily spread with all the tree crap they dump all over the place; fronds, bark, nuts, you name it. Not a good choice for our stadium. Are there any around town aside from In-n-Out?

Gotta be some over in Sac somewhere. If I recall from the time I took my children there many moons ago, there are palm trees on the State Capitol grounds. If they can grow in Sac, they can grow in Davis.

Palm trees grow like weeds and are easy to plant and remove, fairly hardy, look good. Is that too SoCal for a NorCal program?
