Aggie Ascent - Facilities Master Plan Release With at least two votes against, here's a viable, evergreen option that might work. Meet Thuja plicata x standishii, aka
Thuja Green Giant, a vigorous, fast-growing evergreen hybrid widely used for privacy screens and windbreaks. It features soft, rich green foliage year-round, grows 3 to 5 feet per year, and matures to a height of
40 to 60 feet. The Red Barn Nursery there in Davis might carry them. We can get a bunch planted down on the scoreboard end, they'll look Redwood-like, and we can chant "BEAT LA" during the break between the 1st and 2nd quarters
Everything you said about the palm family is spot-on. Little known fact: exactly zero species of palm tree is native to California. All imported from elsewhere, but they are easily spread with all the tree crap they dump all over the place; fronds, bark, nuts, you name it. Not a good choice for our stadium.
Are there any around town aside from In-n-Out?
