• Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
There isn't really a good logical explanation for it.

The main reason is you still need a TD anyway so you're not changing anything on that front. Yes, you win the game then with a TD rather than going to OT but that's not that big of a difference. The other big reason is there's only 4 minutes left so there's no guarantee you get the ball back. You're also going to need to get a stop anyway, might as well take two shots at getting the TD rather than 1.

I know their defense played well for most of the game so maybe he did have faith in his D. Problem is, most of the game we had a different QB in. Tompkins comes in and we march it right down their throat two times in a row. You've got to factor that in. I know they got the stop but we did pick up one 1st down on that drive and had only a 3rd and 3. Pick that up and it's game over.

It's also a bad decision because it was 4th and 4 and they ended up gaining nearly 500 yards in the game. 500 yards and you don't have faith in your offense to pick up 4? You averaged 6.8 yards per play in the game! Just a bad look. Even if their offense was performing poorly on the day, that would be even more reason to go for it since you'd be no lock to get the ball back down to our 17 yard line again.

About the only situation you could justify kicking a FG down 7 with 4 minutes left is if it was 4th and very long (like 15+ yards). Even like 4th and 8 to 10, it's still a decent bet you pick it up.

4th and 7 up 3 with 3 minutes left from the Montana 23 and Eastern Washington goes for it. They picked it up too.

Not sure I would have made that call (I don't know anything about their kicker) but Petrino could learn something from that.

    Haha.

    FG
    Get a stop
    FG
    Onside kick recovery
    FG to win by 2!

It really is hard to express how bad of a decision that was there. But you know, Petrino's aren't exactly known for making good decisions, on or off the field!

    Ballgame!

    5-0.
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
No big plays and keep them in bounds, even if they get the 1st down.
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
I haven't been paying super close attention to down/distance so don't know how many 4th and shorts they passed up on but I wonder if he got scared off after they didn't convert the first one in the 1st quarter.
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
They don't deserve to get the ball back after such a cowardly decision.
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
LOL Idaho coach. My god what a dumb decision. If you kick a FG down 7 you still need a TD. Plus it's only 4th and 4. At least if it's 4th and like 15 it might make sense. But it's 4th and 4.

Holy hell how dumb that was.
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
Man that pick would have been nice to have.
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
Come on defense. One more stop please.
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
    Great throw great catch.
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
Big stop. 2nd and 2 and they hold twice in a row.
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
Boy that was some terrible defense. Two guys open in the end zone.
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
I'm only following on the gamecast and not watching but is our defense performing that poorly and we're just getting lucky? Only 20 points allowed through 3 quarters isn't bad. Seems like the offense is the bigger issue tonight.
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
Need to capitalize on the field position here.

I was going to respond that North Dakota, as of now, is a top 10 team but then I remembered that the NDST of old used to hammer everyone.

That’s a long way of saying I agree with you.

Lol. Going to need to see more evidence than random Twitter dude on the nearly 50K deaths thing.

Congress doesn’t have a mandate because Biden doesn’t have the power to force them to.

Teachers in California are already required to be vaccinated or undergo weekly testing.

And when the mandate for students goes into affect, teachers will be required to take it also.

You’re right. We should just say screw it and have no masks and no vaccines for kids. It will go great. Just ask Texas.

Sounds like a guy who doesn't really know what he's talking about. Same with Isaac.

Yeah, that’s what Marsh was saying on the radio.
