Doss with a catch...targeting called on Seattle. Big gain

Tonight is making me nervous. Camp has gone so well, but it is so tough to make the final 53.

Ooph, back to back drops by Doss.

Doss has 8 targets. I just turned in the game and according to Twitter - 2 bad drops.

Is the big target to catch discrepancy on doss or bad throws?

4 catches (#2 on the team), 2 bad throws?

First one was a tough one because it was to the sideline with two defenders on him, high up, but went through his hands. Had he got it, would've been pretty impressive. Otherwise many would forgive him. Others will say that if it touches your hands, you have to catch it.

Second one, he ran a nice, tight route, was open, ball went right to his chest, bounced off--even he knew he should've had that one. I'm sure there's a lot to be said about practicing and rhythm and timing and being connected to your QB, but that one was right on the numbers. I'm sure he won't let that happen again. Keep your head up, buddy!

...as a kid from the Northwest, I can attest to Californians having issues catching balls in the rain. It's just different. A strange preseason game to sum up the last month.

Going to order/watch Hard Knocks online tonight and catch up on the last 3 episodes.

Initial lists are due tomorrow afternoon, I think. I say "initial," because there's a bunch of additional shuffling that happens as everybody looks at the waiver wire.

They cut loose a $4M linebacker who I guess they signed as a free agent.

Brandon Marshall, from Denver, used training camp to get healthy...Gruden has more sway with this team than typical NFL franchises, there is no GM (Mayock is a player analyst and deal maker only)...Gruden is Head Coach and GM...

I just finished the first 4 episodes of Hard Knocks, it's HBO so I'll take with a grain of salt, but DOSS is all over episodes 2-4....and Gruden is on tape wanting to see Doss get after it. Doss hit a preseason peak in Winnipeg, then it got a little sloppy in Seattle. Bear in mind, Doss still finished with 6 catches for 63 yards up in the Emerald City...on a wet night. He also plays special teams...and is more versatile a receiver than Ateman.

If the Raiders cut him, he may never wear Silver and Black again, but he'll be wearing colors for a NFL team regardless...and when you're picked up after preseason cuts, you're on a 53 somewhere in the NFL.

Hard Knocks spoiler: #Raiders are waiving WR Keelan Doss, source says. They’ll try to get him to the practice squad but he’ll have to clear waivers first.

Well, hopefully he gets picked up before going practice squad. He deserves to be playing on Sundays. Raiders will regret this decision.

Yeah, big time mistake. It’s nice they gave him a shot, but it’s hard to believe they can’t see his potential.

If he gets on the Raiders' practice squad, is there a chance he can make their roster later? (I'm not familiar with how this whole thing works.) I admit I'm already used to seeing him in silver & black.

I think the Raiders pick 4th in the waiver wire...they are gambling a little to grab him back for the practice squad...

This is the price of keeping 3 QBs.

of note: WR Ateman was flat out released.

If its true the Raiders are stacked at WR, many teams will want to pick him up.

They are stacked, 6 solid veterans which includes the best WR in football Antonio Brown.

Time to let the boyhood dream team go, and take the best offer / opportunity.

Very rarely do practice squad guys make the jump up and find success. He needs to be playing on Sundays this season. I hope a team claims him and he balls out.

Here's the waiver order:

1. Cardinals
2. 49ers
3. Jets
4. Raiders

Does anyone know if the Cardinals, 49ers, or the Jets lack WR depth?

Edit: It doesn't seem like the top three have strong WR depth - especially the Jets.
I'm assuming Doss will be picked up by one of these three. My bet is on the Jets.
