What is the reason 5th year senior Markeece Alexander, #6, went from being a starter at cornerback who had a “breakout year” in 2023, to only playing a bit in the Cal game, if at all? Injury? Coaches decision?

I know Idaho has played stiffer competition but I think getting them to 3rd down could be important.

Idaho 3rd down conversion rate = 0.26
Opposition rate = 0.40

UCD 3rd down conversion rate 0.37
Opposition rate 0.33

Obviously Idaho has been successful keeping opponents out of the end zone.

The Davis defense has to play better than it has against the FCS teams, but they have a mitigating factor in that they were without key players. Now all the starters are expected to be back. My hope is the defense plays as they did against Cal where they held Cal to less than 3 yards a carry and less than 300 yards of offense.

Huge game and my wife and I will be there.

The FCS Coaches Poll has the Ags ranked #11 and the Vandals at #4 with 1 first place vote also. The STATS Perform Poll has the Aggies at #14 and the Vandals at #4. The game has also be chosen to be the FCS Game of the Week over on the AGS forum.

The Vandals have already established that they are an FCS power to be contended with this year but there is still a lot of uncertainty as to just how good the Aggies are. If we win, we'll move up into the Top 10 but if we get blown out, we'll probably drop out of the Top 25.

This is a great opportunity for the Aggies to build on the excitement that we had with the big crowd last week and to firmly establish themselves as a strong Top 10 FCS team in the eyes of the ranking committees. We should have a really good crowd for this one...maybe even another record crowd and we need the crowd to get into it and be LOUD! Go Ags!

Looks like the oddsmakers haven't figured this game out. I see everything from UCD being everything from +3.5 to -4.5.

Anyone know what Trent Tompkins status is? I don't recall seeing him play at all so far, but I know he had one reception. Hope he gets more action against Idaho.

I also saw that the oddsmakers give Idaho a 57.2% chance of winning and the Aggies 42.8%. We're definitely the underdog going into this one.

Trent has been playing. He's had a few catches, but not the same contributions we've seen from him in previous years. I'm wondering if he is still recovering. Hopefully we'll see some magic today!

Massey has us at even worse odds... 65% Idaho. We're going to have to see a different offense if we want to stand a chance in this one.

We've been pretty good between the 20's but only 7-20 for scoring TD's in the red zone. We have booted 10 FG's in the red zone so we have scored 17-20 in the red zone. We aren't going to beat the top Big Sky teams by kicking FG's 50% of the time when we get into the red zone though. TD's in the red zone are where we really have to improve...hopefully, that will happen today...

I hope this game doesn't get ugly. If they can win this game, I like their odds for the playoffs even with a backloaded schedule.
