Its a good burn, but you and everyone know about FCS Playoff attendance issues.....South Dakota drew 6,100 for our semi.

I'm sure Sac wasn't particularly happy with attendance in their last two home playoff games either (9k and 13k in a 22k seat stadium). Both less than the Davis game the week prior 23,074 (as usual, your welcome :D).

With that said, I don't think any fans in the Big Sky (besides UM and MSU) should be talking sh*t about attendance (especially fluky spring game stuff)

Marion has added another highly rated player with a history of problems. He obviously believes in giving players with troubled backgrounds an opportunity to turn things around and has brought in a ton of talent via the portal. It will be interesting to see if he can establish the kind of discipline and cohesive, team chemistry necessary for success on the field with the roster he has built.

Michigan State dismissed defensive end Itayvion Brown from the team last month. The move comes after he was indefinitely suspended from the team beginning in February and later an incident on March 17 that has resulted in Brown facing multiple gun charges.

Brown's not guilty plea -- on felony charges of carrying a concealed weapon and a misdemeanor charge of firearms possession while under the influence -- comes just under a month after the alleged incident. Don’t know that I’d bring up last year if I were a Hornet fan, especially in comparison to the year Aggies had. Pretty impressive resolution on the attendance number - down to units.

well, that’s probably not the standard at your tailgate specifically but salty behavior in the parking lots around Hornet Stadium is abundant. Actually, I recall as a kid some woman (in green and gold) barged into the men’s room and cut me in line, proceeded to drop trow, squat like she was getting her crack waxed and sprayed backwards into the urinal like a cat. My dad had to explain to me how cheap beer worked. As an adult I recognize this was an advanced female move, not all women could pull this off without dribbling on themselves, only the finest at Sac State.

We actually were hammered with injuries as well. Most teams are in the same situation at that time of the year.

It is very clear where character and integrity rank in Sac’s recruiting priorities.

What can also be true is that a young man who has had some issues but honestly wants to earn a degree should be able to use his athletic ability to help make that happen. Its up to the HC and University to decide if these young men have the best intentions....definitely not aggiesporttalk.com :sweat: Does this scenario give Sac State the benefit of the doubt that this isn't a "victory at all costs" scenario? Yes.

If Marion can get these guys to work as a unit on the field/film room/locker room and get the job done in the classroom, the sky is the limit. I've said it before- this is a huge undertaking.

They have signed a kid suspended and cut by Pitt, a kid kicked out of one school for drug trafficking then another for criminal mischief, and now a player who was kicked out of MSU on weapons charges while already suspended for a violent attack in the tunnel. I am all for second chanced, but not third or forth chances. These are pretty serious transgressions. There is a reason they fell to Sac: Everyone else decided that the level of talent was not worth the discipline headaches. Again ,I will gladly lose the next 10 causeways if this is the type of “student-athlete” we need to bring in to compete with Sac.

This whole thing has a Deion Sanders shock and awe feel to it (down to the cowboy hat!). But I don’t recall Deion bringing in players with that kind of luggage to either Jacksonville or Colorado.

Hopefully this new recruit with felony charges can hook up with the lawyer of the other guy with felony changes who somehow avoided prison despite carrying a kilo of dope into an airport!

Do I personally believe Sac State is a "victory at all costs" scenario? Probably.

I've always had a great admiration for the culture of the Davis football program. The continuity of it over the years is incredible and to be respected. Its clearly a very difficult thing to uphold such high standards year after year. Some or most programs can never get there: "win or lose, we are doing it right" type of thing.

Oh, we've had some crazy threads. This one is obviously a very, very interesting and hot topic.

I had a former neighbor refer to Florida State University (FSU) as Felony State University back when they had their legal issues with their football program. Now I am not trying to slander the entire student body in this acronym possibility, as I am sure Sac has produced many fine graduates and citizens, but maybe Sac’s football program direction will lead to the unintended consequence of having some label CSUS as “Criminal State University Sacramento”. I am pretty sure Marion cares little about player academics except for football eligibility, and he is looking to the portal in an attempt to feather his own bed for a potential coaching advancement ASAP. If I were a Hornet football fan, I think I would be hoping for a longer term plan with a more stable culture. Maybe that just isn’t in the cards.

I was a grad student at Florida State and had a few football players in class. They were total dummies who couldn’t write their name but each was provided a paid tutor to accompany them to class and “help” them with assignments. The tutors hired by athletics were exclusively attractive females who weren’t so good at homework themselves, it was like a tutor escort service. It was not something any self respecting school should aspire to and to boot they were still bad that year.

There was a reason the epic 90's football film The Program was loosely based on Florida State. That film turned me off to the idea of playing college football unfortunately, I stuck with baseball, but have come to realize there are proper programs that teach and make sure their team graduates, and there are 'other' programs that don't necessarily care as long as they're winning.
