AgAlum is correct --- 8 pm St. George, UT time, or 7 pm Las Vegas time (PT)

You know, the Aggies better get up for this game -- Utah Tech is a growing program, they've got a lot of Utah/BYU transfers and they are fresh as this is their 2025 opener.

Trailblazers were playing tough to end 2024:
Played Austin Peay tough at home (L 7-13)
Beat Central Arkansas at home (W 34-21)
Lost vs. West Georgia (L 31-34)
Played Southern Utah tough in Cedar City (L 34-37 in 2 OT)

"I felt like clearly we were the better team in the game." This is a good thing to hear as a fan that got nervous there in the 4th. His comments really point to the Ags really getting gassed late- not a talent issue.

I think Fisher needs to get more carries. As much as I like Perez, I think it’s gotta be primarily Fisher and Vargas getting most of the carries. One thing I noticed was the lack of swing passes out of the backfield although we don’t have a Lan Larison who did such a great job of that

Jordan Fisher must of had at least a dozen relatives at the Mercer game. They all had shirts with their relationship to Jordan. I thought that was pretty neat.

95 David Huegel is a true Freshman as is 96 Jaden Few. True Freshmen playing at critical points in the game is probably due to the dehydration Plough says they were contending with. Lots of guys deep in the depth chart were in their when Mercer had their surge. Not all at the same time but rotating. I think Few trailed the Mercer RB on his 69yard run.

Didn’t know much about St. George Utah but looked it up and it seems like climate will be somewhat less of a factor but maybe not completely. Similar temps to Davis, slight elevation but moderate by Big Sky standards, humidity seems to rest somewhere in between Davis and Alabama but varies by day.

My phone says it will be 87 at kickoff and feel like 86. Its at a couple thousand feet elevation.

Here’s the hour by hour forecast. At least they're not forecasting thunder storms.

Sounds like the Aggies should have no trouble with this one, especially with one "game" under their belts. I only hope they aren't overconfident going into a stadium home opener for UTU.

I don't necessarily want to say "no trouble" because any given Saturday and what not, but Utah Tech statistically had one the worst offenses and defenses in FCS last season which is why they finished with a 1-11 record. They will have essentially an entirely new defense so they could be a little spicy, but I have a hard time believing they totally turned the ship around in 1 off season.

I’m feeling pretty confident versus these guys - they’re no Dixie State!

Like folks have said, Mercer likely has one of the best Ds in FCS. Hopefully with UTU we can see the guys firing on all cylinders and see Pinnick put on a show.

I didn’t notice while watching, but Plough said almost all our WRs were out in the third quarter due to the humidity (IVs). That was probably a big contributor to the drop off in production. I’m expecting a solid 48 minutes in all phases.

Strange that since 2022 Davis has played two teams that changed their name mid year.

Should Davis change its name, after all the years of the game notes saying it was UC Davis? That always puts us at the end of alphabetical lists we’d be much better positioned as Cal Davis.

You know who never seemed to be out of the game were the Connor brothers.
They rotated the defensive linemen all game, including playing true freshmen. The rotated the rush linebacker, but not much at linebacker or DBs. If Batson, Rex’s backup on the depth chart, got in the game I didn’t see it.
Played lots of two tight end but only brief appearances of WR Morales and Hennessy.
The whole team seemed to wilt starting at the last couple of plays of the drive following the safety when they stalled just before the missed field goal.

Thats a good point about the Connor brothers - and those guys never seem to take a play off while they are in there!

I suspect that we used Perez at RB more than expected because of fatigue. All the talk leading up to the game was that he was going to be primarily a slot receiver, but he played a fair amount at TB.

Having new had the 'pleasure' of playing in high humidity, i can only imagine the effect, both physically and mentally.

I noted this during the game. Saw all three starting receivers in the medical tent at some point in the 3rd quarter.

didn’t notice while watching, but Plough said almost all our WRs were out in the third quarter due to the humidity (IVs).
We noticed the injury “tent” out on the second half and after Plough mentioned the IVs it dawned on me that the tent would have been IV central. No visible injuries to use the tent so that’s what was going on, along with mister fan pointing into it.

Saturday can't come fast enough. Need to flush out last weekend's BS with a blowout win...have some fun.

    87-93 degrees @ 8pm (mountain) kickoff. Humidity about 5-17%
About the same heat as Montgomery....far less humid.

Too bad about the result but no team gets a loss and we don't know how it would have ended-- I thought about the Porter Conners hit on the sideline- surprised it wasn't reviewed in todays world ( it was clean, hard football) but what if they DQ'd him????-- no game, no stats-- I guess the DQ would not be enforced ??-- a joke that a real game was played to 7 minutes left and the stats are erased?

Utah heat shouldn't bother the Ags. Thats basically Davis all summer.

Are we starting the year off with new experiences?

First time playing at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, AL
First time playing at Greater Zion in St. George, UT
First time playing at Husky Stadium in Seattle, WA

    Good times, wild rides

Does our young QB have decent arm strength?? Is he a Plough recruit, or Cody Hawkins?
  • Riveraggie
    323
He commited in January, tagged VintagePlough on the tweet. 247 just listed offers from Brown and Sac State, so perhaps he is a Plough recruit. That is my guess. Definately not Cody, Cody was at Idaho State long before.

I heard the commentators say that the Conners brothers had a chance to go to major programs and make a lot of NIL money, but they wanted to stay in Davis. That says a lot about their values and the quality of the campus, the sense of community and the football program. all very admirable and something that makes me proud to be an Aggie.

Best in recent memory. But Harper is right there with the deep ball.

95 is Jake Williams he switched from 54, Devin is now 54. Jaden Few is the second end and will have a significant role throughout the year.
