2005 was a huge year for me, man, Davis had a lot of good things going on that year, just remember it personally - such a good time then...like it is today!

I remember being at the Stanford game as the excitement started to boil in the second half. Would have taken the field except there was a chain link fence that had more sharp edges than it looked like. That November we also beat Stanford mens basketball at the Pavilion. That was a full house and Aggie Pack stormed the court with people jumping from the upper level like popcorn overflowing a kettle. Such an exciting fall, followed by a decade of mediocrity all around.

The Athletics Department has posted a great article complete with a photo gallery and interviews with Biggs and players in remembrance of one of the greatest moments in Aggie Football history.

STANFORD, Calif. – 20 years ago on Sept. 17, UC Davis football made a trip to the Farm that to this day people in Northern California still talk about. The Aggies, having just made the move into Division I, entered uncharted territory with a visit to Stanford Stadium but when they left, they had very much made themselves comfortable on their new stage.

Remembered as one of the greatest wins in program history, 20 years later the legacy and impact of that win is felt everyday around the football offices. There are photos from the game, coach Bob Biggs around the practices and current head coach Tim Plough having been a member of that team.

Now, 20 years later UC Davis athletics will look back with a retelling of one of the greatest nights in Aggie history. The night Aggie Pride won the Farm.

UC Davis athletics reached out to Biggs, Jon Grant (QB), Ryan (Blaise) Smith (WR), Tony Kays (WR), Luis Armal (DB) and James Amos (DL) to help with the retelling of this moment of Aggie history with the players who made it.

Weren't we still in year 1 or 2 of the transition?

My fondest memory was the Aggie message board at that time. I found our previous board, but that went up to around 2007. If anyone can find the older board, then that would be fun to read.

Anyway, we were transitioning to Division I. I think we were 1-2 and lost to New Hampshire before the Stanford game. I'm not going to check my facts right now, so feel free to correct me.

However, the Aggie message board group was cautiously optimistic. Even I thought we had a 10% chance of upsetting Stanford since our team showed signs of hope.

I recall one outside poster vigorously mocking us for being optimistic and said he'll come back to the message board to mock us even more after Stanford wins. After we won, he deleted his post. I wanted to save his post so bad!

I believe this was the davisfans.com era in the early 2000's up to when we moved, in around 2005. My memory is getting a little fuzzy!
CKwan was a good guy who worked with us to grow the board. I often wonder if he's still around!

we were 0-2 with a loss to Portland state in there! Crazy

Lost 17-13 to a New Hampshire team that ended up being the top seed in the playoffs. Lost 14 to 12 to Portland for the sixth straight time over thirty year period, but only gave up 32 yards rushing in 30 carries. Then against Stanford the defense only gives up a field goal.

I found a 2004 snapshot on wayback machine. It was an EZBoard, which was later absorbed by Yuku/tapatalk. Idk if any archives are still accessible. If they are, somebody more web savvy than me might want try to archive things. But I think this was it… wow internet from only 20 years ago.

no, I wasn’t going to many games then. I can i picture in my head watching a dark, grainy broadcast of that game and thinking I wasn’t looking forward to Stanford. I think I purchased season tickets in 2005 but only attended the day games.

I have the full radio recording of the 2005 Stanford game digitally. It was from back in the day when you could get CDs from the third party who provided the service. If anyone would like the recordings DM me.

I was sitting in the parking lot of the IHOP in Richmond listening to this game in my Nissan Sentra. My friends were wondering what was taking me so long to go inside the restaurant. The good ol' days.

Fun to see all those old photos again. Before this video came out, a shorter one was released without as much narration where you could really hear the crowd erupt after that final TD. Still remember, even in that half-empty giant old stadium, how loud it was down on the field.

Many of our vantage points weren't good way up in that corner section of the stadium. I forgot we missed 3 FGs. Ugh.

I didn’t get my tickets through Davis, so we were sitting in the opposite end zone - just above where the winning TD happened, surrounded by some angry, disappointed Stanford fans!

I do have a habit of sitting with the home team side in away games. I was a bit envious when the UC Davis side was enthusiastically cheering while I was on the other side.
