Which may explain why the CSUS athletic website no longer covers it.

UCD defeated Sac in women's golf over the last two days at the Causeway Invitational at Del Paso Country Club in Sacramento. UCD finished 2nd of ten teams with 868 strokes. Sac was one place and one stroke behind.

Running causeway score is now UCD 44.17, CSUS 11.67. Scoring is somewhat murky as the UCD site lists two events in which both schools are competing, however the schools' schedules list three events.

Which leads to the next competition, maybe. Schedule for both schools say their beach volleyball teams will meet this coming Friday, February 27th, at the Battle for the Bay in Berkeley. UCD's Causeway site does not mention the meet. As noted, CSUS has given up posting anything suggesting a Causeway Cup competition.

Any discussion abougt the Causeway Cup begins with the realization that as we get into the "Olympic" or "Non-revenue" sports, it is not clear which events are included. Beach volleyball is an example. UCD and CSUS are scheduled to meet three times this year. The UCD site only lists two of those meetings. Today the teams met in Berkeley in the "Battle for the Bay." UCD defeated Sac, 3-2. Assuming this event counts the running Causeway Cup score is UCD 45.84, CSUS 11.67. If that passes official review then once again UCD has won the cup.

Next scheduled event is a gymnastics meet in Davis on March 8.

CSUS women defeated UCD in a gymnastics meet in Davis this afternoon by a score of 194.175 - 192.550. Running Causeway Cup score is now UCD 45.84, CSUS 14.17.

Next event is tomorrow and Tuesday, March 9-10 as the women's golf teams compete at the Julie Inskter Invitational to be played in San Francisco and hosted by San Jose State.

Next scheduled competition between the schools is in beach volleyball on Saturday, March 21 at the Big West Challenge in Long Beach.

UCD beach volleyball has been struggling this season, but they defeated CSUS today, 3-2, in the Big West Challenge at Long Beach. This is the second win over the Hornets this year. Causeway Score, I think, is UCD 49.18, CSUS 14.17.

Next scheduled competition is softball this coming Tuesday at Sacramento.

It doesn't count in the official (HA!) Causeway Cup but UCD gymnastics finished in third place in the MPSF championships with 193.350 points, behind second place CSUS who had 193.400 oints. Southern Utah was first and Alaska Anchorage fourth.

Gymnastics will move to the Mountain West next season.

CSUS softball defeated the Ags this afternoon in Sacramento by a score of 11-4. With the win Sac swept the season series in softball. This thankfully concludes the winter quarter Causeway calendar, I think Ags went 5-5 in the quarter. Causeway score is now UCD 49.18, CSUS 16.67.

Next scheduled event is women’s tennis in Davis on April 4th.

After three days of bad weather the Aggie men's golf team hung on to edge Sac by a single stroke in the El Macero "Classic." Davis finished 8th of 19 teams with 893 strokes and Sac tied for 9th with 894. Causeway score, by my count, is UCD 51.68, CSUS 16.67.

Next scheduled event is women's tennis in Davis this coming Thursday, the 16th.

Sac easily won the women's tennis match in Davis this afternoon, 5-1. I have the running score as UCD 51.68, CSUS 21.67. UCD website has something a litttle different and I have not bothered to compare and see where the difference is.

In any event, the next scheduled meeting is a beach volleyball tournament this weekend in Davis involving UCD, CSUS and Santa Clara. UCD is scheduled to play CSUS twice over the weekend.

As an aside, and I will let other people philosophize over this, but the rosters for the tennis teams are very different. For both men's and women's tennis UCD's rosters are California heavy, while CSUS' rosters are domninated by European players. Not unusual in tennis....a quick check of Cal's rosters was also heavy on Europeans.

Sac defeated the Ags in baseball, 7-1.

Next scheduled event is the Causeway Dual meet in men's and women's track & field at Davis, tomorrow, April 24.

Tough ending for the year as Sac has traditionally done well in baseball and track & field.
