    Those were the day!
  • MBB: Norfolk State(4-3) at UC Davis (3-2), Monday Nov. 25 at 6:00 pm
Coach Nosek was not at the game. The PA announcer before the game said he was MIA.

Really rough second half. As with a lot of Aggie teams from the past, the difference between a great game (vs GCU) and a terrible one (last night) is razor thin. Give Norfolk credit, they moved the ball on offense, hit open shots, and played with a very controlled energy. The ags looked very tentative on both sides of the ball.

I'm wondering if it's time to alter the starting lineup a bit. Lose is a decent defender and plays hard, but he's limited on offense, to the point where it almost feels like it's 4 on 5. I know we've had defensive "stoppers" in the past that don't look to score much (Adebayo and Michael Onyebalu come to mind), but both could contribute on offense when left open (Ade could finish around the rim when he had his confidence going, and Michael developed a pretty solid 3 point shot). Teams have sloughed off Sione so much (basically begging him to shoot), which allows them to get into our passing lanes, resulting in not just steals but in keeping us out of a nice offensive flow. Daugherty seems to be getting his shot back a bit and is also a pretty tough on ball defender, or maybe Cooper (though he seems to be needed to replace Tomba on the front court). Not saying that Lose needs to score 10 a game, but just hit the occasional open 3, or even consistently get fouled on drives to the basic. Anything that would force the defense to take him seriously.
  • Rd.2 PLAYOFFS Week 15: UC Davis vs. Illinois State
We may be planning to tailgate before the game, and I'm definitely heading to the basketball game afterwards.
  • WBB: Aggies (2-3) at Santa Clara (3-1) 2 pm Sunday 11/24
Good win by the Ags in Ot 74-70. Norris lead the way with 30, 28 came after halftime
  • MBB: UC Davis (2-2) at Grand Canyon (2-1), Wednesday Nov. 20 at 6:00 pm
I think there was some overlooking initially, but the Ags kept the pressure on. Certainly by the second half, the ‘yotes knew they were in for a fight. Just judging by the commentary, the issues that we saw with GCU, stagnant offense, lazy defense, have been a trend so far this year. Ags were able to hold and make enough plays down the stretch.

FWIW, GCU easily took care of the Aggies next opponent, Norfolk ST, 91-73.

they are all part of the Acrisure Holiday Classic tournament.

Great win tonight. GCU played poorly but this is certainly a glimpse of how good the Ags can be this year

he was definitely introduced with the other graduating seniors last Saturday.
  • UC Davis (2-1) at Stanford (3-0) 1 pm Sunday, Nov. 17
Chappel is keeping us in the game. Yeah the freshman has two nice threes. Going to be nice to watch him progress

well that’s. Tough start to the season. Hopefully Cooper and Mani can be effective upon their returns, but I was looking forward to what Robinson could do.
  • 2024 Week 11: UC Davis (8-1) @ Montana (7-2)
Go Ags! Can’t wait for next week?
  • UC Davis at Idaho, 7:30 pm Thursday Nov. 7
I don't think I saw Bora on the bench for either game. I'm guessing he didn't make the trip so maybe(?) an injury or illness. Mani was on the bench, I think, but never took the warmups off. If you've watched enough games, you know that means he wasn't going to play. Maybe a small injury that they were hoping would clear up during the trip, so they brought him along? Don't know if any of this is accurate... Hopefully we get some clarity soon.

I may try to get to this one. Hopefully some guys who haven’t sniffed the court yet will get some time.
  • UC Davis at Idaho, 7:30 pm Thursday Nov. 7
Big shift when Idaho’s two “bigs” fouled out in back to back possessions. Aggies drives to the basket became much easier and Idaho was just an outside shooting team at that point. Very good last 5 mins or so. We’ll see how the rematch goes in Davis in December
  • UC Davis at Idaho, 7:30 pm Thursday Nov. 7
Yeah that was a rough first half. Settled down a bit once TY got hot. Defense giving up way too many open 3s. After all that, though, only down 3 at half.
  • UC Davis at Idaho, 7:30 pm Thursday Nov. 7
Same starters as the UW game
  • UC Davis at Idaho, 7:30 pm Thursday Nov. 7
Over the years all our games feel like big letdowns against Idaho, including the NCAA tournament team which lost at Idaho early in the season. Hopefully we come out strong tonight. Maybe we get some healthy bodies back
  • UC Davis at the University of Washington, 7 pm Tuesday, Nov. 5
I think SoCal Aggie was spot on. Leo can probably fill that 3rd or 4th scorer on most nights, but it’d be nice to have the 2nd scorer be a wing. Someone who isn’t to reliant on outside shooting. The announcers mentioned that the Ags were short handed so I imagine Bora, Mani(who I thought I saw on the bench) and several of the newcomers were injured. Hopefully nothing too bad. Chappelle looks like a really nice find. He may have forced a few shots, but the stage didn’t seem too big for a freshman. On to Moscow.
