They should move the game, so it still gets played, but without causing risk or health issues for fans and players.

Hopefully the AQ will improve over the next two days prior to the game. A win over Sac would be huge for recruiting and our playoff chances. Smoke is no fun. We have had our share of it here in the PNW the last two summers and its looking pretty bad in Sac. I know the two schools are monitoring it and hopefully the game can be played without issue.

Hypothetically if the fires were still raging, would they actually cancel a causeway classic? Particularly one that matters for the playoffs?

I agree that Poly students compare more with UC Davis than those of Sac State. Poly is the best CSU and in some programs like engineering or architecture, top notch. In agriculture, I think we may have the edge, but they can manage well too. Rankings take research too heavily because if you're an undergrad, you may be forgotten.

I'd take Poly over 2-3 UCs, but depending on which ones and which majors.

Pluto would work for 10 mins or so before freezing. Fortunately I'm in the Bay Area tonight and am able to pick up 1140 at night from 80 miles away. It was an amazing comeback!

Okay first off, it is not just Cal that would not want UC Davis in the Pac 12. You can add Stanford, UCLA, U$C and every non-California team too. The Pac 12 relies on California for recruits. Another school would hurt recruiting for all teams and would be an unproductive add for the Pac 12 which already owns the Norcal market plus socal fans living in the Sac region too.

I might get hate because I cheer for the Bears as well as the Ags (I've been a Golden Bear football fan for nearly 20 seasons now and follow them more intensely than the Raiders), but I don't get the whole "kal sucks" deal. It makes the Ags look petty. Cal is happy to have UC Davis as FCS unlike some of those teams in Alabama or Nebraska that do backdoor moves to shut out rivals (UAB's death and return; Nebraska-Lincoln allowing Nebraska's Omaha campus to move to DI but by dropping football).If Cal really disliked the Ags, they would refuse to schedule them as an opening opponent like Bama does for all Alabama schools. They are happy to keep the money in the UC system and get 5-10k Davis fans down to Memorial when they'd get less vs Portland State or Idaho State for example.

Lets focus on FCS first esp with the widening gap between P5 and G5. We need to win a title or atleast advance to the semis for 1 or more seasons before moving up. The MWC would be intriguing. A rivalry with Nevada or esp Fresno would be electric. I would really miss playing Slac State or CP though. I'd hope one of them would move up too.

EDIT: One final word on this. I do wear Cal gear for their games, but I'm not one of those folks who wear it outside of football branding. Like I'd never wear a Berkeley shirt on the Davis campus like some people did when I was an undergrad. There's totally a difference. I was happy to attend UC Davis, proud of it. But it is possible to cheer for both teams except when they play each other.

How was the crowd today? Are the students back yet? When do they do the freshman run through the stadium... Or is that not til the next game?

Yup, EWU at Aggie Stadium was last yr. But you're right about them being really tough. I think they'd win either home or away, but the Ags could beat any of the other teams. Idaho scares me since they were FBS.

Is Slac's game available on Pluto too? I know they are carried in Sac, but outside of the valley is there a way to watch that game? SDSU is blowing it.

Will there be a stream for this game? Tv in Sac region? Or just radio?

True, but when you consider FCS vs FBS, the coverage for Davis and Sac is only slightly less on account of Sacramento having fewer teams in the area to cover and located in Sacramento proper. UC Davis has the college town and academic prestige too. Its not like SJSU is a dumb school...far from it esp in education or business, but it gets overshadowed being a commuter school. Anyway, I hope many Ags fans make it to the game.

But I can tell you as a former east bay native, no one cares about SJSU football. Not even most alums. SJSU does have loyal fans, but the majority are there for school and not for sports. Pretty much everyone in the Bay is either a Cal fan, a Stanford fan (alums or Peninsula/South Bay only really), Oregon nike kids, Fresno / SDSU fan, or non-local transplant for some other Pac12 or NCAA team.I grew up supporting Cal in the Pac 12 and now UC Davis also in FCS.

Basically no SJSU games are ever televised locally in the Bay area unless it is a high profile opponent or no pro teams are being shown on NBCS BA/CA. They have a local radio station and that's about it. They get a distant third billing in college football behind Cal and Stanford. They are also behind the WCC teams in popularity and covergae for basketball.

The Kings schedule was recently released. It looks like the only Kings conflict with FB is the Causeway Classic. The week prior, Kings play the Lakers at 7pm, but our game at EWU is at 1pm so it should be fine. The Kings have an away game at 5pm et. Usually our game vs Sac starts either at 1 or 2pm. This would clearly not work. Is our game aired on KDVS or KSAC if there is a conflict?

With a strong car radio, it is possible to get 1140 in the inner East Bay. KTHK covers the whole valley. You can get it from Redding to Bakersfield and east to Reno for sure. They carry other teams too besides the Kings and Ags.

What is the hierarchy for KTHK after the Kings? I know the Raiders are high on the list but they usually play only on Sundays generally. Are we (the Ags) ahead of the Republic, A's and Sharks? Is it the same for CFB and MBB?

Is it "Lee" or "Lie" in pronunciation?

I think Montana's #37 is probably the most unique and I learned something new today. Plus Montana isnt exactly a blue chip state.
