15,000 attendance actually looked legit. Very disappointing turnout from the Alumni section. Many empty seats.
This was about 10,000 students.

well considering they reserved the seats and didn’t open them until today for the entire alumni side of the stadium. I’m not surprised. I literally think we could’ve had three times. The alumni stands if they would’ve just opened the seats you couldn’t buy most of the press box side seat seats.

As a student who was right in the middle first row of the student section, loved the vibe, first half was one of the best experiences in recent history (other than suck state last year, that was by far the best).

I was there in section 120. A ton of emptey seats in that area. I was honestly pretty let down with alumni attendance. Great turnout from the students!

Regarding QB1…it’s important to remember a point that’s been made on this board before….
FCS schools land FCS talent. And if FCS schools are lucky enough to land a diamond in the rough, they only stick for a year.

Pinnick being 5’10” landed him at Davis. His arm talent and elite elusiveness took him away to FBS.

Every Aggie QB in the D1 era has had limitations that frustrated folks on this board….and if you deny that, I have a hard time believing you :D
Even then, the talent at the QB position at Davis has vastly improved over the years since 2004.

Cleeland is an FCS QB- not tall, not a burner, not deadly accurate, which is why he’s in the Big Sky. Kolloch has the physical attributes, and there is a reason he transferred down and not laterally (we really don’t know much about him or why he’s not starting). Both of these guys can develop and be really successful.

As far as who is QB1 week in and week out, none of us on this board know the inner workings of this team or coaching staff, or much of anything about the two kids playing football out there (what is between their ears, how their teammates react to them, etc.)


There are folks on this board that are very knowledgeable about QB play and that’s been interesting to read.

Montana is the bell weather test for Cleeland. If he plays poorly, coach will have to make the switch. If he plays great then all is forgiven. My only fear is Coach becomes stubborn and sticks with Cleeland regardless of play, which will torpedo the season. If I were Coach I’d split reps between the two this week in the event Cleeland gets overwhelmed.

Not a crisp showing against a weak team. Biggest concerns were lack of run game (31 rushes for 117) and lack of pressure on their QB. Not sure if we were playing a vanilla defensive scheme or the fact that QB never seemed to pass more than 5-10 yards, but we didn’t seem to get too many touches on him.

Take away an epic goal line stand, their missed chip shot FG and late muffed punt and it more like 38-17. Granted their late points were against reserves BUT…

Take away 2 punt returns and….

Another concern were the penalties. Seemed like we had a ton of 3rd and long that we converted because our athletes were much better.

The season starts with Montana and Coach Plough has made his decision. The Aggies will live or die with Cleeland this season. I’m hoping these unconditional opportunities Cleeland is getting will translate to improved play, confidence and game management. As fans, we’ve seen what he can do..
Unfortunately, not so with Kollach.
I watched some of the Montana/OSU game. The game illustrates the difference between FBS and FCS talent and size. The same analogy discussed here between the Aggies and Stetson. Montana will come into Davis ready. Yes, the defining moment comes this coming Saturday. Go Ags!
Last note: So far, Pinnick looks quite pedestrian.

A very disappointing ground game, averaging 3.8 yards per rush. South Dakota State averaged 8.7 against Stetson. Establishing the rush was reportedly a goal going into this game, yet result was similar to Portland and San Diego games.

I wish we had played Jackson Fay a bit at wide receiver. He has speed comparable to Xzavior Guess and Zach Jones.

Correct. We had an FBS transfer QB w a gun in the Gould era who was amazingly immature. I saw him as a player posting online about his downtown party escapades in season before his sideline drama.
