I wonder why the women have stayed with the byes in their tournament, and the men have gone away from it? i know the Big West like to tout the fact that we have had so many different teams represent in March Madness, but I would really like to see the conference winner get some type of benefit. Last year, we won it and were rewarded with a noon tip-off (on the road).

I think the tv contract for the men requires all 8 teams to play day 1.

#5 Irvine 59 #4 CSUN 57 Final. The Aggies will play Irvine on Friday at 12 noon. This could be a tough game. Irvine played with a lot of energy tonight and a swarming defense that forced 17 TO's by the Matadors.

Obviously the new strategy in the league is to really be physical with Morgan and hope for the best. Twins need to come out and Take care of this which they are very capable of doing. Love those gals. . .

Will definitely be a tough game, IMO. UCI is at full strength with Sanders off concussion protocol (she missed the final regular season game).

UCI really went after Northridge and played with a lot of energy and emotion. They were double-teaming and trapping on defense every chance they got and they have some quickness at PG and the wings. Their defensive scrappiness had the Matadors frustrated the whole game and CSUN lost their cool and control of the game.

UCI will come out sky high against the Aggies. The Ags need to come out and match the Anteater's energy while maintaining their composure at the same time so they don't let Irvine dictate the pace of the game. I'm sure they will be collapsing on Morgan every time she touches the ball so we'll need to make them pay by shooting well from the perimeter without settling for 3's every time down the court. We can be a deadly 3 point shooting team but we have had games where we went stone cold from 3 also. We'll need balance on offense and tenacity on defense.

One nice thing is that I think every opponent this year tried to run some sort of full-court pressure against the team, so they are well-versed in the concepts of beating it. It's certainly been a weak spot in recent years.

The Aggies need to be prepared to match the energy that UCI will bring at the start of the game. They're playing tenacious basketball right now and they'll come out sky high. The Ags are a mature team that plays with poise and they'll need that today.

24-13 after one. Good start to the game offensively--Aggie shooters doing well from all ranges. Holding Irvine to 32% shooting at the moment.

38-20 at the 2Q media timeout. Bertsch and Hall in double figures for scoring. Hall also has 5 rebs.

Uci trying to pressure us full court but it’s not working. Ags are to smart and ready for it. Up 38-20 at the 5 minute mark of the second. Good Aggie crowd here in Anaheim

45-30 at half. Things got a little messy partway through the quarter--gotta stay clean, defend hard, and stay on track offensively.
