Can't ask for much more from the offense. 3 turnovers I guess (or 2 during the normal course of the game when they're not forcing it downfield). But still had 567 yards and 36 points. That should be enough.
I still think our playoff chances are pretty good but the invincibility shield that was this team despite all the injuries has fallen and unless then can reformulate after this game it’s concerning for actually playoff games
That basically ruins any chance of a seed which is too bad because there were some other upsets today. They really need to beat Idaho and Sac now. That Mercer no contest could hurt if things are equal especially with NAU win looking less good. If Sac beats the Ags, I think they get in ahead.
This reminded me of the 2018 game when the Idaho State kicker missed a gimme field goal to lose the game in Davis. I just knew the Frank Sinatra guy would make it.
I think it’s worth noting if we are going to be positive at all that we still were able to be 6-1 with a ton of injuries. Yes, more and more injuries means less and less weapons but I really don’t think it’s panic mode.
It certainly makes things harder. Not going to take the time to run through all the teams, but if they beat Sac and Idaho, they'll be in consideration at 8-3. At that point it comes down to style points. Beat those two teams by 2 TDs each and have a respectable showing at Montana St and you get a seed. Squeak by Idaho and Sac and lose to Montana St by 24, you're in the 9-16 range.
Finish 8-3 in the Big Sky, regardless of the exact scores of the games, and we'll get a home game. Might not be a bye though. 7-4, there's likely not a home game (unless it's something like a close loss to MSU, a close loss to either Sac/Idaho and an easy win).
Chapatte has been with the program for a while now... 5th year as TE coach, but his first as the special teams coordinator. Whatever he's doing isn't working. Tons of blocked kicks against us, poor return coverage... yikes.
I will say the kickoff team can improve if we can consistently bang out touchbacks...we obviously can't do that. For what it's worth, we all don't like Hauck all that much, but his teams are gangbusters on Special Teams - as a point of emphasis. A Head Coach has to set up all 3 phases for success.
11,000 at the game again today. Looking like this year will easily be our best attendance ever. That’s a damn bright spot for the Aggies in the past few years.
I think they'll blow out Portland State in Hillsboro
Solid matchup vs. Idaho, if Sac manages to win that by 2 or more scores...it's a good thing.
Sac has to beat Davis regardless to get in, my two cents.
Oh, no seed, not without complete craziness in the Top 16. Sac could earn a Top 16 spot if they win out...and they are running the ball well right now, though Eastern has been inconsistent on defense.
