The Rhody board posters are under the misapprehension that we have a D2 win. That likely refers to Utah Tech who completed their transition before last year. Utah Tech has a higher rating than three of the teams in their conference.

I'm not a coach but I believe its based on film. I'm sure information is shared among friends. But not in person scouting.

Who is going to be the Rhode Island comeback calamari this year? Remember that guy?

As I recall, last year Tim planned for both scenarios until we knew who we were playing. I suspect he’s doing the same this year. I’ll be tuning in next Saturday, 9 AM.

I like how they also count “No amazing wins” against UCD despite the fact that per Massey:

    a) our three best wins are all better than their best win
    b) our worst loss is also better than their best win

Don’t get me wrong, I think we’re pretty comparable and it should be a tough game, but I don’t think it’s insanity that we were seeded above them

Since we can't rule out an upset, here's the Central Connecticut State University football message board:

They also don't seem to understand the concept of SOS. Davis #9 vs. RI #79.

Their board keeps saying their "bad loss" to Brown kept them seeded behind Davis. Davis had a "bad loss" as well to Idaho State, which likely kept us out of Lehigh's #5 seed.

Quoting Stan Becton's article on Facebook.

    Hack City also bypassed SOS.

I'll give Hack City credit for doing such a good job of whining without really whining on their Bracket reaction show. Those are two Rhodys with deep ties to the URI team and family, so for them to not go ballistic at URI finishing No. 9 in the seeding was amazing.

Everybody outside of the Big Sky and maybe the UAC don't know or think Davis' resume is worthy of the No. 8 seed. Who cares. Let them play their Round 1 game - we'll prepare either way and strap it up in two weeks. Play it all out on the field.

HOW DO YOU GET FANS TO THE GAME!!!??? It helps to not be playing Thanksgiving weekend, that's for sure - but given the turnout last year vs. Illinois State, something has to be done.

Marketing not falling asleep. Six Associate ADs and they basically ignored a home playoff game for our no. 1 sport.

My complaint is that when you select tickets it doesn't show up. You have to specifically look on the football page like last year.

It seems like everyone assumes that Rhode Island will beat Central Connecticut. Maybe the prognostications should wait for that game to be played. Still, I suppose it's just like basketball's national tournaments when everyone feels a need to make brackets.

Thanks MTB. Just got a couple (one for Bay Area brother) and will be flying out. Haven’t been to an Aggie home game since Toomey Field days. Good chance to see the new home. Hope the weather doesn’t go south for the game

The playoff game last year was my first since the Toom. This playoff game will be my third game this year and I intend to get season tickets next year. 99% of my family and friends think I'm a moron, except the people I've taken to the games. So much fun!

Even on the URI forum, people seem to have forgotten they only beat the Blue Devils 21-17 last year in the playoffs. Not exactly a blowout.

Hearing that we have our full starting defense except for the Connor twins is a relief. Subs trial by fire.

I think the bye has got to help Fisher. He carried the brunt the past 3 games and he’s not a big body. I think that took a bit of a toll of his explosiveness

I finally got around to listening to the hack city podcast and wow do I have some thoughts. They seem to have no concept of strength of schedule at all and seem to think winning blowouts against bad teams is a metric to count for seeding. And look, I'm not saying that Davis SHOULD be the 8th seed, but they are really trying to argue that it doesn't matter if you play in the Big Sky versus the CAA. This is not the CAA of old. It's a flat out weaker conference.
  • Jdur

lots of caa fans still think they are a “power 3” FCS conference…it’s just not. That’s not a knock on URI but I’m just saying it’s not surprising how the committee decided.
  • Riveraggie

I wonder if they ever consider the factors that lead the computer algorithms like Massey and Sagarin to rank Rhode Island lower. The committee considers Massey ratings. These primarily are based on comparative scores amongst all teams. You can question the value of that but is is entirely unbiased.
  • CA Forever

lmao anyone who puts the current CAA in the same tier as Missouri Valley and Big Sky is being willfully ignorant. Heck you could even argue that the Missouri Valley is in a tier of its own over the Big Sky with his dominant they are in winning the natty. Mid tier Big Sky teams would kill it in the current CAA.

one of them straight up said that he barely had Davis in his ballot because we weren't blowing teams out... Objectively stronger teams than what Rhode Island had to play over the course of the season. I hope we get and beat Rhode Island so maybe he as a voter will re-evaluate his criteria for voting. Same with him saying Tennessee Tech should have been seeded because they were dropping 40+ per game on even weaker opponents than Rhode Island faced.... Just a strange strange rationale and for him to be that heated about... Weird guy.

“If they, (Rhode Island), beat Central Connecticut State, which they most likely will be because they’re in the NEC, not really a strong one, I will put my whole house on the line, the house that I do own technically against them to beat UC Davis.”
