As is typical in the Big West, Cal State Fullerton is much better at home (8-3, 5-2) than it is on the road (4-9, 1-4). This bad news for the Aggies as they only lost by 5 at Davis partly because the Titans missed 13 free throws. They continue to score in the 80s while allowing about the same number of points per game. They have four players who average in double figures, led by Joshua Ward who dropped 19 on UCD in their earlier loss. There is little doubt that they will have extra incentive to win this game as they only trail the Aggies by one game in the battle for the fourth seed. We really need to hope that the guys can shake their problems away from the UCU and pull out a critical win in this one.
I was surprised that the Titans were as good as they were in Davis since they’ve been down the past few seasons.
I’ve been meaning to look at our record on Thursday night road games vs Saturday (limited sample size). I assume, we bus to Sac, fly down, kill time somewhere and then play - I can’t imagine we fly and stay Wednesday. Of course, SOCal teams have that same issue coming up here on Thursday (they must stay Friday before a Saturday afternoon gsme).
How did i mess that up  . My bad, I was looking at the wrong tab. Speaking of UCSB, whats the read on their season this year? I usually pay a decent amount of attention to the team cause I have a few friends there but have been lacking.
kind of up and down but they are dangerous. For some reason, we play them better than most. The gauchos that beat up Irvine, though, looked like they could beat anyone.
Mahaney is (to me) this season’s version of Bryce Pope. Subtle trash-talking pretty boy!
Odds have us as 1 to 1.5 point underdogs, with Fullerton having something like a 52% chance of winning. But, it is Thursday on the road - not sure the travel conditions today but that could be something to factor in.
I have a grandkids school thing so probably can only watch second half - hopefully watch us grind out another win. Fullerton has been better, at least to me, than expected - gonna be a tough one.
I would never have believed that the Aggies would score 92 and lose, especially with a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio. They played really well for 36 minutes but the game lasts 40.
This officiating crew has no idea what an offensive foul is. How many times did a Fullerton player charge into an Aggie, throw a shoulder or an elbow and the officials would call a blocking foul on the Ags again and again. That and Les having the team start milking the clock way too early had a lot to do with this loss. We gave up 57 points in the second half so our defense did not travel to this game.
On the brighter side Cooper had a great game and was back in the starting lineup and Suljanovic is improving with every game.
I don't know a lot about basketball, but we threw that game in the trash. Why did we keep killing so much time on every possession in the last few minutes, then failimg to set up decent plays?
I totally agree with you on both points. It was great to see Cooper back in form again. It's not usually fair to say that the refs cost us the game and in this case they called more fouls on the Titans (26) than the Ags (22), but they definitely affected the game. I've never seen so many blocking calls and so many ticky tack ones.
I don't think the refs cost us the game either. I just hate how often the offensive player initiates the contact into the defensive player and, 8 times out of 10, the defensive player gets called for a block. It seems to me that there is an unequal "bias" by the officials in favor of offensive play that often makes it really difficult for teams to play great defense.
The Ags led the whole game until the last 19 seconds. Gotta give Fullerton credit. They shot 71.4% in the second half while scoring 57 points. That's was truly a "lights out" second half for them.
Let’s just hope they put this he find them and get the most winnable game lefty on the schedule. I actually had a bit of a tough time getting to sleep night I was so disappointed for them. Big bounce back Saturday!
