Kollack had a nice pass and looked good against the 2-3 defense of SMU but 1 pass and late game action will not determine or cause a QB change. I still think Cleeland moves better and is a bit more coordinated/athletic. Yes he has some bad throws but the first string defense of SMU will get a young QB rattled. He seemed to be too amped up on his throws similar to first half of Portland State.

I think the temperature got to the team in the second quarter. Not that it would have made a difference in the outcome but i think it contributed to the number of points given up in the second quarter. Temperatures like that slows people down. Cleeland played better in the first quarter, and the defense was better.
My feeling is that the only think you learn from games like this is who keeps making an effort.

The expectations are low when playing a ranked FBS opponent. What I will say is both QBs had time in the pocket. Major kudos to the o line needs to be given.

TC absolutely has the skill set, he just needs to hone it in. He missed way too many throws (wide open, no pressure throws). At RBs feet, the wrong side of Gbatu, an easy 1st down and the horrible interception.

Personally I think kollack looked better. I’m not buying the 1st string vs 4th string argument. He was hitting targets in stride at all levels of the field including the beautiful long ball. He does however look way more sluggish when running.

My gut says Kollack should be QB1 however I do think this is the best our offense looked all season. We were struggling against way lesser teams and on that first drive Gbatu looked like he belonged with a ranked opponent.

Some of these early season blowouts are so hard to read in predicting their future games this season. I think the ags will have a nice rebound against stetson next week.

One thing that I actually enjoyed watching this game was the commentators who were outstanding. They had certainly done their homework about the Aggies. Of course, since the game was never in question, they had a lot of time to fill with commentary and I was impressed with all the interesting information they had about the history of the Aggie program, back stories on individual players and mentions of former Aggie greats.

Normally I would say yes, but after watching the post game conference, and seeing 3 games with offense sputtering, I think we are going to see Jackson get some more reps.

The team including but not only the QB, wilted in the heat at the end of the first half..That was the worst quarter of the game..

Comparing QB performance seems sorta pointless given the different talent on the field.

The lesson learned? Don't schedule top 25 teams especially in places that can be 120+ degrees at field level.

Your theory would be correct if only for the fact Davis played better in the 2nd half.

The team played better in the second half a lot of fresh players on the field, getting their few minutes.

The other thing I would point out is that of their recovering yards it was entirely on our linebackers and safeties busting coverages or just getting beat. They went at Richardson once and he broke it up and I don’t even know if Cofield got a target. They clearly recognized the strength and weakness in our pass defense.

If we can solve our safety issue by getting Rex and Kam totten back sooner than later and then figure out the quarterback play we should be ok.

SMU coach said that he and Plough got approached at halftime about it, he sounded surprised like it was a first for him. I think it was the right call though, not terribly different than putting backups in and refusing to call timeouts or aggressive plays

So how do visitors deal with schools or professional football teams who have the advantage of shade and fans in high heat and humidity? That seems to be an awfully strong advantage.

Theoretically it either cancels out or you bring your own equipment.

Worth noting UCD has benefited from this for years as well with the home side getting shade first and not looking into the setting sun
