Poly is on the upswing. CP fans have a lot to look forward to despite their loss.

I missed the big pickup by our QB turned TE. Key play? And Dobbins.

When I was at Davis we never played Cal Poly. By the time they were playing every season, I was pretty much out of touch with Aggie football until the last 8 years. How did the rivalry start? When did the golden horseshoe trophy get started?

Not just Rex and Porter. The defense is really banged up as a whole. Injuries are part of the game, but QB is the most important position on the field and Poly was down to their 4th string. Still an impressive game from them.

I missed the game but love having Cal Poly as a rival. What a wonderful institution to have in California. I have no ties to that campus but respect their culture and academic rigor.

I've lost the narrative on what's happening with Sac State and why this will be the last year we will have them on our schedule?

Sac is committed to FBS and leaving the Big Sky, so probably no Causeway for a while.

this was not the cal poly of old. Solid team, Montanas beware

Does Cal Poly still have their tradition of no team photo in the locker room if they lose to Davis? I read about that in the Aggie around 2009 or 2010.

Sac left the Big Sky, and the Big Sky is adding members and hence 9 onference game. Davis is contracted to play three out of conference games, so no room for Sac.
Sac, being without a conference, would be happy to play Davis, they are going to have a hard time building a schedule.

    What is Sac State thinking?

They are thinking only big fish are going to survive economically in the football pond. Their error is seeing themselves as a big fish.

bo has started for them for more than a year so he’s not some scrub, yes qb is important but the loss of Rex Porter Garretson is arguably bigger

Davis certainly gave up first downs a lot on 3rd and long, often by pass interference. Otherwise a goid defensive game.
I don’t know if any of our recent nose tackles ever had eight tackles as red-shirt freshman Mayo did.
Red-shirt freshman Sievers had 11 tackles.

Definitely stepped up with a new defensive scheme put in without Connors

We just finished watching the recording. So awesome. So fired up for this season. I brought my cousin's son to the playoff game last year and he's hooked. We have tickets and will be there next weekend for the NAU game. Go Ags, and beat the Lumberjacks!!!

    Caden Pinnick on the year.

    Passer Rating 165.99
    79 - 121 - 65.3%
    11 TDs, 2 INT
    1066 yards, 213 YPG

I asked Grok AI if this passer rating was good:

"A college football quarterback passer rating of 165.99 is excellent. ... A rating of 165.99 typically places a quarterback among the top performers in a given season, indicating strong efficiency, accuracy, and productivity with minimal turnovers. For context, elite college quarterbacks often post ratings between 150 and 180, with Heisman contenders frequently exceeding 160. This rating suggests the quarterback is performing at a high level, likely contributing significantly to their team’s success."

Whoa! It's true that Wikipedia has everything. Thanks. I was surprised to see that Rich Ellerson was quoted and has a Wikipedia page. I knew him back in Hawai`i in the 70s.

It's Sunday morning in Paris and I was nervous about looking for the score since we have had so many key injuries and Poly is so much improved this year. It looks like it was a very tough game over a very good Poly team. I'm really proud of the Ags winning this one given how banged up we are with the loss of some of our top players. Great team effort and win!

This was Pinnick's breakout game and he showcased what he is capable of as he continues to improve. I sure hope we heal up a lot this week before another tough game against Norther Arizona. On the positive side given the injuries is that we are showing that we have the depth to still be a good team even with key injuries. Lots of Aggie Pride in this team...

A battered defense holding Cal Poly to 71 rushing yards (2.3 yards per rush) is pretty dang good. I know their RBs are pretty beat up, but holding most any team to less than 3 yards per rush is great. Poly put up 178 yards (4.6 yards per rush) against Sac.

Also I know Booher went off for 100 yards and 2 TDs (most of which came through the middle of the field where Rex would have been), but we trivialized their star WR, Briscoe, to 3 catches for 37 yards and I know the commentators said that was on like 10+ targets. Defense largely had him locked down.
