“They are such a great ball team, and I thank our coaches for having us ready to play,” said Cooper, whose incredible stat line along with those 26 points included 8 of 10 on field goals, 3 of 4 on treys, four rebounds, four assists and three steals.
“The hardest thing to do in basketball is to go on the road and get a win, especially against an opponent like Nevada,” Cooper added.
Aggie head coach Jim Les praised his team’s resilience and its ability to match the Pack shot for shot down the stretch.
“We had a next play mentality tonight,” said Les.
“We just stayed with it and Nevada was never able to get any separation.”
The Aggie coach also had praise for Cooper.
“He just brings his lunch pail to practice every day and works so hard, and tonight he made a three in the guts of the game,” said Les.
Nevada coach Steve Alford gave credit where credit was due.
“It was a hard fought game between two pretty even teams but they did a lot better job in the last five minutes,” said Alford.
“They made better plays offensively at the end and better plays defensively.”
Rocak was thrilled with his crucial trey near the end, saying “It’s a shot I work on a lot in practice. My teammates and my coaches are always telling me to take it, so that gives me confidence. Thanks to them, I was able to knock it down. It was an amazing win for us. We knew the game was over when Connor went to the free throw line at the end. We’re going to enjoy it tonight and then it’s back to business to get ready for Colorado.”
