Does anyone have any preliminary estimates on how much players are getting paid from their NIL?

Regarding USF, the new coach comes from USD and Hawaii. My wife went to USF, and she gets to mock me everytime USF beats Davis. This may grow the rivalry a bit.

Yep...we've had a lot of defections recently. Les is a good evaluator of talent though and I just hope he can bring in some players who can step right in and play this fall.

Ha I know what you mean. I’m hopeful that we’ve seen the worse, but you never know. I’ve been trying to scour the coaches social medias to see if I can find and clues but it’s all just guesses and conjecture. Hopefully we get some good additions soon.

It’s certainly going to be a new-look LSU men’s basketball team next season. Following the firing of former head coach Will Wade and the hiring of new head coach Matt McMahon, 11 different Tigers players have now entered their names into the NCAA Transfer Portal – with forward Mwani Wilkinson being the latest, per On3’s Matt Zenitz.

Wilkinson, who averaged 4.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game as a sophomore for LSU in 2021-22, has made the decision to join 10 of his former teammates in the portal – which means there are now no remaining players from last season’s team on McMahon’s current roster.

I heard a radio interview yesterday with Houston’s Kelvin Sampson, who had 3 transfers on his elite 8 team (one from Bakersfield), two of whom they had recruited heavily out of high school. They were saying there are over 1000 names in the portal. Unless you have a connection, seems like finding a good landing spot is challenging

A 'need' likely also key... say a high mid major needs a PG, I would think Manjon would get a long look.

Of the thousand players, probably lots saw limited time, others newbies. Take out grad transfers, and proven starters a fraction of the pool.

My guess is 3.

Assuming we were at the limit last year: Out (6) Fuller, Manjon, Shaw, Ba, McGill, and Niles. In (2) Strong and Mani, so that would suggest 4 open scholarships. But VerbalCommits has Ba listed as a non-scholarship player, so that would mean we have 3 open scholarships left. Don't know if VerbalCommits is accurate with that, so it's either 3 or 4. Going to be an interesting spring/summer as Les tries to pull this team together.

There's also Patrick Lambley that VerbalCommits has listed as a walk-on. I wonder if he has or will be offered a scholarship?
