Ags roll into a BYE this weekend (Technically Week 4, with our Week 0 being in the mix), getting some rest.
They'll get a shot at the Thunderbirds in two weeks at home - finally HOME.
At this point I see this as being a very competitive game - sure was a good one last season, and Davis ended up being a Top 8 team in the end, with SUU nearly making the '24 playoffs as well. Lambson has graduated.
the loss at USD is a bit of a shock. Ploy beat USD up the first week. Torreros ran for nearly 300 yards but only passed for 94. SUU stats were skewed the other way, throwing got nearly 325 and running got 80 or so. Hopefully a chance to get our run game going and get our heralded TEs in the mix.
I want to see Williams, Simpson and Dix absolutely go off -- watching the Raiders in Foxborough on the weekend, they were slashing them with shots to Bowers then to Mayer one after the other, New England couldn't cover them both!
I don't think a player could play for a better coach at the FCS level than Tim Plough. His ability to keep the things in perspective that are important to the goals of the team and the well being of the players is impressive in this day and age of college football. I sure hope we can grow the fan base to the level of the Montanas because we have the coaches, we have the talent and we have a great football tradition. We just need the students and the community to show up and support one of the very best FCS football programs in the nation.
Right now what they need is less perspective and more size at receiver and speed at linebacker. Will need to play more young guys if they want to get back to the playoffs.

I don’t think Cal Poly is ready to challenge for the Big Sky Championship this season, but I think they are definitely improved and will surprise teams this year.
I thought the win over USD was an indication that they were much improved this year. That being said......what the heck happened to SUU after they racked up 300 rushing yards the week before against Idaho State?
Not sure. That one is a tough one for me to answer. Cal Poly struggled the last few years rushing. San Diego held Cal Poly to 135 yards rushing on 38 attempts (3.5 yards average). Not sure if that should be credited to a good rush D from San Diego or Cal Poly is still struggling. I think it may be a little of both.
I watched the game and USD controlled the line of scrimmage re: run game on both sides. SUU finally got things going late with opening things up after stubbornly trying to pound the ball. SUU run game doesn’t seem the same without Lambson. The key will be to get a little heat on Barron who isn’t the most accurate passer when he has to move.
Essentially a 3 year starter at Weber, including the five game spring season. Then played 2 games at Western Kentucky, and now this is his second year at SUU.
