Ags roll into a BYE this weekend (Technically Week 4, with our Week 0 being in the mix), getting some rest.

They'll get a shot at the Thunderbirds in two weeks at home - finally HOME.

At this point I see this as being a very competitive game - sure was a good one last season, and Davis ended up being a Top 8 team in the end, with SUU nearly making the '24 playoffs as well. Lambson has graduated.

I'll be missing the next two games because my wife and I will be in Japan. I hope the Ags will be 3-1 when I next check in. Go Ags!

the loss at USD is a bit of a shock. Ploy beat USD up the first week. Torreros ran for nearly 300 yards but only passed for 94. SUU stats were skewed the other way, throwing got nearly 325 and running got 80 or so. Hopefully a chance to get our run game going and get our heralded TEs in the mix.

I want to see Williams, Simpson and Dix absolutely go off -- watching the Raiders in Foxborough on the weekend, they were slashing them with shots to Bowers then to Mayer one after the other, New England couldn't cover them both!

More Dixon! Dude got me out of my chair a couple times @ UW.

I don't think a player could play for a better coach at the FCS level than Tim Plough. His ability to keep the things in perspective that are important to the goals of the team and the well being of the players is impressive in this day and age of college football. I sure hope we can grow the fan base to the level of the Montanas because we have the coaches, we have the talent and we have a great football tradition. We just need the students and the community to show up and support one of the very best FCS football programs in the nation.

Just looked at SUU stats vs ISU. They ran 50 times for 333, and passed for over 200. What happened vs USD?!!

Right now what they need is less perspective and more size at receiver and speed at linebacker. Will need to play more young guys if they want to get back to the playoffs.

I don’t think Cal Poly is ready to challenge for the Big Sky Championship this season, but I think they are definitely improved and will surprise teams this year.

I thought the win over USD was an indication that they were much improved this year. That being said......what the heck happened to SUU after they racked up 300 rushing yards the week before against Idaho State?
  • SloStang

Not sure. That one is a tough one for me to answer. Cal Poly struggled the last few years rushing. San Diego held Cal Poly to 135 yards rushing on 38 attempts (3.5 yards average). Not sure if that should be credited to a good rush D from San Diego or Cal Poly is still struggling. I think it may be a little of both.

Washingtom dbs were playint their man and not the ball. Therr were,at least 3 pis that should have been called in the 1sr half

I could easily see you all knocking off the Ags if they look past their rival.

I watched the game and USD controlled the line of scrimmage re: run game on both sides. SUU finally got things going late with opening things up after stubbornly trying to pound the ball. SUU run game doesn’t seem the same without Lambson. The key will be to get a little heat on Barron who isn’t the most accurate passer when he has to move.

I want to say Barron is like a Super-Duper senior, started his career at Weber State?

Essentially a 3 year starter at Weber, including the five game spring season. Then played 2 games at Western Kentucky, and now this is his second year at SUU.

I think he is getting letters from the Social Security Administration.

Davis, after playing what was expected to be a bad team and winning a close game, and then playing a game where they were completely outclassed, finally has a game that is a good yardstick of how good they are. Southern Utah averaging over forty points a game is a good test for the defense. Davis is arguably the most underperforming team among big sky preseason contenders. Sagarin has two projections, one giving SUU a 70% likelihood of winning, one giving Davis a 73% chance of winning, so who knows.

SUU is a bit of a puzzle so far -> too big offensive outings sandwiched around a stinker vs a not-so-great San Diego team. I think our defense is good enough to stop them (their run game isn't what it was last year) and this might the chance for the offense to put on TWO good halves of football.

Mercer, surprisingly, might be the weak one in our preseason lineup. Utah Tech has been solid in their other two games.

We seem to be a team that's is still putting the pieces together with our young QB and lots of new players. The first 2 games were a mixed bag and the Washington blow out was bigger than most expected. This game should give us a better idea about the overall strength of this team at this point in the season.

Bronson Barron is a pretty good QB, seven TD, no interceptions, 66% completions.
I think he would have had a good career if he had stayed at Weber.

Lets not forget, with the Washington game, most of our starters were pulled for the second half according to Plough. Maybe we could have been a bit more competitive if the starters were left in, but we got the younger guys some reps and mitigated injury to our starters.

And UW stayed with their 1s through the 3rd quarter.
